Stunning sensory experience - Stunning experience watching and listening to hundreds of hummingbirds in the company of Theo who was passionate and knowledgeable about them. Seeing the hummingbirds at close quarters was mesmerising. Nick from Sensational Tours was a great guide telling us about the history of the island. Would highly recommend this tour.

Just fabulous - Picked up as usual on time by Mr Nick. What a fabulous time at Yerette. We all found out so much about the small, strong, fierce and beautiful Hummingbirds. We all could have listened to Theo and watched the birds for hours and hours. Our fabulous light lunch was just a wonderful addition. Thank you Gloria and Theo

A marvelous and transforming experience! - One of the best experiences I've ever had! Theo Fergurson is a very wise man, he knows about hummingbirds, but not only... he has a great deal of experience in a lot of subjects. Theo takes you on a magical ride through out-of-this-world storytelling. Words are insufficient to express how fantastic this experience is. If you are in Trinidad and have a morning or afternoon to invest in something different and enriching I would recommend anyone to visit Theo and be amazed by this incredible journey.

A magical experience at Yrette - This was the highlight of my trip to Trinidad, Theo and Gloria were amazing hosts, and listening to Theo telling us about the history of the country, the Arawak people and the hummingbirds, in surrounding like paradise, with countless hummingbirds flying around us all the time was magical. If I return to Trinidad I will definitely return here, I didn't want to leave. I learnt so much, and now understand why these amazing creatures seem so magical. Don't miss this visit if you're in Trinidad.

Beautiful privately owned garden with hundreds of hummingbirds of many varieties! - We had a lovely afternoon visiting Yerette Home to experience the wonder and beauty of the hundreds of stunning, magnificent little hummingbirds that visit this well maintained garden. The peacefulness and calming magic of the hummingbirds reigns powerful in this little garden high in the mountains outside of the bustling city of Port of Spain. Theo, our host, shared SO MUCH information about these very unique and special tiny creatures. Although we enjoyed listening to him and learning so much about hummingbirds, the time he spends talking is a bit much and wish there was more time spent walking around the garden viewing the birds and less time spent listening to Theo. We did thoroughly enjoy the delicious tea and snacks, as well as our time perusing the incredible hummingbird photography taken by Theo, which was available for purchase too. If you have a few hours to spare while in Trinidad, this is a peaceful, fun tour that we do recommend. I also want to give a BIG THANKS and shout out to our driver Nick, he was on time, very friendly, and a true joy to chat with.

A 2*visit- but 5* go to the himmingbirds! - 5* for the hummingbirds. Incredible- so many different varieties within the one species, in one flower filled garden, near the top of the mountain. 2* for the owner and lecturer- and boy was I lectured at - and asked questions that I ( -who have been a university lecturer in my time-)felt stupid in his response to my wrong answers! We assembled to hear the (1st!) lecture- ( yes sit on the right to watch the birds as others have suggested-) amazing information about hummingbirds- eg they can fly up down sideways backwards..) although in a didactic style with occasional picking on someone in the audience. Then ..time to wander and observe what we’d heard, followed by a simple light lunch, soup, bread, salad.. and then the second lecture : projected images of different hummingbirds. All well and good until an hour later he’s still going strong and talking about the missing history and incorrect history of indigenous people - including his wife. I dared to suggest this was not relevant to the hummingbirds, but was assured it was - and half an hour later…we finally and hastily left. The glow of seeing hummingbirds had faded into frustration with a man who did not respect me, my time or listen, but just barreled ahead with what is wrong with the world.. destruction of rainforests, warming seas.. treating His audience as if they were ignorant in such things. He was patronizing and condescending, not respecting any of the groups personal and relevant histories and stories. Incidentally he said hummingbirds were actually aggressive and ‘angry’ birds - and I think he has picked that up in his manner. Now I need to breathe…. Would I still have visited? Yes....BUT I urge you to tell your guide to rescue you after 3 hours- we left when he’d done, after 4 hours. Less is definitely more. Our guide, / driver, Nick, was helpful - good driving, imparting information along the route and empathized about the host. He agreed he would speak to the host again- and rescue his clients another time! PS for Theo : someone in the group of 6 of us had published books on indigenous people's, and another, 4 decades of experience working with such people and rainforest conversation, in development and relief contexts across the world.. you never asked and denied the validity of our experience to make it a reciprocal learning time.

Way too much money for a hummingbird lecture! - This 5 hour trip involved 1.5 hours getting there and back, and 3.5 hours in a couple's back yard having a light lunch in the midst of a 3 hour lecture on hummingbirds. (There were numerous hummingbirds using the feeders hung around the back porch, but that's true of our home as well.) The likable gentleman doing the lecture used mostly a "guess the answer" technique so that 15 minutes of facts took hours. He did have some excellent slides of photos he had taken of hummingbirds during the final hour, but I'd never have signed up if I'd realized it was for a lecture and not a tour.

Do not use Viator! - Do not book with Viator! We were unable to make it to our tour and were not refunded anything. So Viator did nothing for us whatsoever but kept all of our money. Also they charge an extortionate amount compared to if you call Yerette and book directly with them.
