Highlights
  • Marathon Lake - Our private tour begins with a drive towards the northern side of Attica prefecture to Marathon. The first stop is at Marathon Lake, a man-made lake created by the construction of the Marathon Dam. Until the 1960s, Marathon Lake was the main water supply for Athens. The Marathon Dam, a gravity dam, is notable for its unique construction, as its exterior is clad with the famous white Pentelikon marble, the same marble used for the Acropolis of Athens.
  • Marathon Tomb - Our next stop is the plain of Marathon, the site of the famous battle between the Greeks and Persians in 490 B.C. Here, you will see the starting point of the renowned Marathon Race, held in honor of the Greek messenger Pheidipides, who ran from Marathon to Athens without stopping to announce the victory. You will visit the Tymvos (Tomb), a burial mound housing the ashes of the 192 Athenians who fell during the Battle of Marathon, and the Archaeological Museum.
  • Temple of Artemis - The last stop of the first part of our tour is the Sanctuary of Goddess Artemis in Vraurona. Here, you will see the Temple of Artemis, the “Π” Shared Stoa, and the Stone Bridge. You will also visit the Archaeological Museum, which houses findings from the Sanctuary of Goddess Artemis. We then drive back to Athens for the second part of the tour.
  • Acropolis - We begin the second part of our tour with a visit to the naturally fortified hill of the Acropolis, the cornerstone of Athens’ existence. You will travel back in time as you walk among the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheion. From the top, you will have a panoramic view of the ancient Theater of Dionysus and the Herodion (Odeon of Herodes Atticus).
  • Temple of Olympian Zeus - We continue with a visit to the Olympeion, where you will see the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch.
  • Panathenaic Stadium - Next, we visit the famous Panathenaic Stadium (also known as Kallimarmaron), where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
  • Presidential Mansion - Our next attraction is the Presidential Mansion (formerly the Royal Palace), where you can witness the traditional Changing of the Guard.
  • Lykavittos (Mount Lycabettus) - Our car will then take you to Lycabettus Hill, offering the best panoramic view of Athens, an ideal spot for photos. We continue driving through Athens’ main roads, passing important historic buildings.
  • National Library of Greece - An important historical building.
  • The Academy of Athens - An important historical building.
  • National History Museum (Old Parliament) - An important historical building.
  • Syntagma - Syntagma Square, featuring the Parliament Building and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
  • Ancient Agora of Athens - Our next stop is the Ancient Agora, where you will visit the Hellenic Agora (Areopagus) and the Roman Agora.
  • Plaka - Our final stop is the famous Plaka, where you can wander through narrow streets that capture the spirit of old Athens. We conclude our tour by returning to the starting point.
