Amazing experience - AMAZING!!! been to marmaris many times and this is the best trip we have done. We ended up booking to go back a couple days later. You can buy apples to feed your horses and the photos are amazing and so well priced. Will do again and again.

OK, for beginners. - So we booked this through Mares travel. I have absolutely no criticism of Mares travel. They have been really good and in fact we have another trip booked with them. However, they just do the booking. Everything else is run by the tour you are going on. So, for Marmaris Horse Safari. Firstly, it's difficult to tell which company is which on here as several are called the same thing. I have posted photos hopefully to help others in future. We went as a family of four. My kids have not ridden horses for longer than two minutes so this was more for them than us. Not that we're horse people! As people have already said, this is advertised as four hours but you actually only ride for an hour. Its 20ish mins to the ranch, half hour hanging around with a very short safety briefing and then an hour ride. Then a long and arduous sales pitch about photos and the journey home. Disappointingly, we didn't ride together as a family and they didn't take photos of us as a family on the horses. Cynically this is maybe to push you to buy more photos if you only have individual shots? In terms of the actual ride, it lasts an hour, but the majority is along a dusty road. Quite disappointing. I'm not an experienced rider and don't want anything that challenging, but this was very serene and the scenery wasn't much to look at. My kids loved it, but we won't come back. I suspect that the other Horse Safaris out there offer something far better. The only thing I would say is that through Mares travel, the trip only cost £12 per person. I think any more and its not worth it. Just for reference, we did buy the photos and we got them at 1000 Lira for all photos downloaded to our phone. They tried it on woth another family and tried to charge them more for less photos. Another French group didn't buy the photos, but due to a mix up, the ranch put all photos onto my phone. Fortunately the French group were on our bus, so I just sent them their photos for free!! To clarify, you cant takr.your own camera or phone to get pictures. They ensure you lock all your bag, etc, away before leaving the ranch. There is another Safari on TripAdvisor that has a very similar name and 30 reviews and all good. I thought I had booked that one. If you can find that one, its probably better than this one.

Enjoyable - We had a choice between the 10.00 or 14.00 ride, we chose the latter to break up the day. We were picked up 10 minutes early by a very pleasant driver who fast lost patience when other customers were not ready on time! On the return he stopped off so we could take pictures of the view which was a lovely gesture. We bought two bags of carrots and apples for our horses at a cost of 30tl a bag, had a safety talk, put our bags etc in lockers provided and fitted with our helmets. We were asked if any of us were experienced riders so I put my hand up and a suitable horse was chosen. My only complaint at this point was there was no mounting block and I'm not the most agile of folk. I ended up hurting my knee trying to mount and again on dismount, nobodies fault but my own! A mounting block would come in handy and prevent these types of injuries. It however did not spoil the riding experience for me at all. My only other complaint was the 1 hour 30 minute ride as advertised lasted only 40 minutes maximum. We also only walked across and back over the stream not down it as advertised. Had I been on my own I would have complained but felt it was ample for other family members who were beginner riders. We purchased photos (see picture quality) at 100tl each but the price comes down the more you buy so I got 9 photos for 800tl. I would say the tour was good rather than average but the scores go from average to very good on TripAdvisor.

Something to pass the time - We did this today and firstly want to say we were both very nervous as we're afraid of horses 🤣🤣 But we wanted to challenge ourselves to do it. Pick up is prompt, and it's about 20-30 mins drive away. Instructors are very patient and informative - I ended up loving the experience. My horse was called Fiona and she was a gentle soul. The trek lasted an hour and the horses were well trained to automatically walk the route. Now the criticism 🤔 The tour is advertised as a 4 hour trip. But its compromised of 20 mins up, 10 mins instructions, 60 minutes trek and the about 60-90 mins while they try sell their photos and print them. This part really detracted from the enjoyment of the day as it was very boring waiting around for everyone to look, individually, at the DVD to choose photos. The photos are VERY VERY POOR QUALITY when printed, although they are shown in high definition and color to you when you're choosing them. They're 40TL each, probably €3 - don't go mad choosing a stack of them, because you may end up very disappointed. Overall, it's an OK few hours - but personally wouldn't do it again.

Never again, poorly looked after - I've don't one of these tours before but not this one in particular. We booked it from an on street vendor and honestly wouldn't recommend. It's coach pick up but depending which driver you have dictates the type of drive you have. We had three horses myself and my two children. My son's horse was lame and struggled around the course constantly tripping. The horses looked under fed and generally sorry. The people there where pretty unwelcoming and there is no way of leaving until they take each family into a private booth to push photographs of your "experience" onto you.

Upsetting, cruel, sad - Friendly and polite staff, but I cannot support a business with such poorly kept horses. I own horses myself back home, and know that none of them should have looked or behaved the way they did. Skinny in their rear end, my horse had blisters/sunburn on him which looked incredibly sore, grown men riding tiny ponies. Horses seemed completely lack of any life and robotically moved in a line like prisoners. I don’t agree with horses being ridden in 35 degree heat on a scorching dirt track by ignorant tourists. I feel really guilty I booked this excursion, if you are an animal lover…. Please don’t book. I felt so disturbed by the condition of the horses that I felt like asking if they were willing to sell a few of them to be rehomed in England with me. Do not book.

Scary at what could have happened - Horses we’re mal-nourished some we’re very hard to get moving Within minutes a fellow rider had dropped of the horse that walked into a tree knocking her off My horse tried to walk past the one in front and that on tried to attack my horse and I nearly feel off Right at the end the same horse tried to attack a horse my niece was on a ten year old and she was terrified and crying On checking the brochure it doesn’t state insurance so it’s at your own risk

Absolute disappointment and rip off! - Be careful, hands off!! A half-day tour is advertised here. It is a one hour tour though!! The return trip alone takes 1 hour! So a total of 2 hours of driving. My children and I are absolutely disappointed. It's like pony riding in circles. When told I booked a half day tour and not a one hour tour it was the fault of the website and they are not responsible. So the owner blames others. Mobile phones are of course not allowed, in my opinion not for your own safety but to make a profit and buy the overpriced pictures. Because the river it is advertised for is just a small "pond" about 4 meters long. There is no way the mobile phone can fall down if it is well stowed away. It went at walking pace for an hour. Galloping is absolutely forbidden. That was something of a letdown. Also the staff and the atmosphere is quite negative. On top of that they wanted to collect tips. What a cheek !! Save the money and go diving or quad biking rather than the ridiculous "pony rides"
