camel - I was in the Agafay desert a few days ago and I was really disturbed by the state of the camels. They are tied by the neck and head with a very tight rope, and very close to each other. When getting up, "lying down" and walking, they are dragged (i.e. by the neck) by the camel in front or behind. There were 7 of us who took camels and so at each step the camels were dragged and pushed by the weight of the one in front and behind. I had to get off before the end of the walk because their suffering was unbearable to watch. There were camels that didn't want to move, one was drooling a lot, another was bleeding from the mouth because we had tightened a rope too tight so he wouldn't bite, and another was holding his neck in a strange way, in my opinion to relieve his pain. I think the people who work with these camels are used to it and don't realize their suffering. I would like to know how we can help these animals and above all inform people who wish to do this activity as I wanted to do.
