Highlights
  • Koutoubia Mosque - The Koutoubia Mosque is a large mosque in Marrakech, Morocco. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city and is known for its tall minaret, which is adorned with intricate geometric patterns and serves as a symbol of the city. The mosque was built in the 12th century under the Almohad Caliphate and is an important example of Almohad architecture. It is named after the many booksellers who used to sell their wares near the mosque, as “koutoubia” means “bookseller” in Arabic. Although non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the prayer hall, the mosque is open to the public. Visitors are welcomed to explore the grounds and admire the exterior of the building.
