Highlights
  • Jardin Majorelle - We start our journey with an important visit to the Botanical Garden and artist’s landscape garden in Marrakech. Created by the French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923, it was opened to the public in 1947. The garden features a Cubist villa designed by French architect Paul Sinoir in the 1930s. Nearby, the new Yves Saint Laurent Museum offers a well-curated experience showcasing YSL’s brilliance and attention to detail. The gift shop has a great selection of items at various price points. Together with Jardin Majorelle, it is a perfect highlight of Marrakech.

  • Musee Berbere Jardin Majorelle - Next, we continue our visit to the Berber Museum, inaugurated in 2011 under the High Patronage of His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco. Housed in the former painting studio of Jacques Majorelle, it presents a panorama of the extraordinary creativity of the Berbers (Imazighen), the most ancient people of North Africa. More than 600 objects, collected from the Rif Mountains to the Sahara by Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent, attest to the richness and diversity of this vibrant culture, which is still very much alive today.

  • Musee Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech - Dedicated to the work of the legendary French fashion designer, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech (mYSLm) opened its doors in autumn 2017. It houses an important selection from the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent’s impressive collection, which comprises 5,000 items of clothing, 15,000 haute couture accessories, and tens of thousands of sketches and assorted objects. The building, designed by the French architecture firm Studio KO, spans over 4,000 m2 and features a 400 m2 permanent exhibition space, a 150 m2 temporary exhibition space, a 130-seat auditorium, a bookshop, a café-restaurant with a terrace, and a research library housing 5,000 books.

  • Gueliz - After visiting the Majorelle Garden, the Berber Museum, and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, we pass through Gueliz on our way to the Medina. Known as the ‘new city’, this modern side of Marrakech was designed and built by the French in the early 1900s. Today, it is the thriving heart of the Red City, featuring popular international brands and fine cafés. You’ll also pass by its main avenue, often referred to as “the Champs Elysées of Marrakech”.

  • Koutoubia Mosque - We then drive through the walls of the old town, known as the Medina, to the Koutoubia Mosque. Founded in 1147, it is Marrakech’s largest mosque and a city landmark that has inspired other buildings such as the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower of Rabat. Your guide will provide a tour and offer extensive information about it.

  • Bab Agnaou - Continuing our drive through the imperial Kasbah, we stop at the famous gate, Bab Agnaou. One of the 19 gates that allow entry into the ramparts of Marrakech, this gate dates back to the Almohad Berber period in the 12th century. It served as an entrance to the administrative and military complex of the Caliphal Kasbah. Flanked by two cannons, it is one of the most impressive gates of Marrakech.

  • Bahia Palace - We arrive at an important monument: Bahia Palace. Driving through the Jewish quarter, we reach the Bahia, an 8,000-square-meter extravagance of intricate marquetry, plasterwork, and zouak (painted wood). Built by Grand Vizier Si Moussa in the 1860s, the palace features salons with intricate marquetry and zouak ceilings, and the Cour d’Honneur, a grand courtyard with a 1,500-square-meter floor of Italian Carrara marble. Despite the vast area on display, only a portion of the palace’s eight hectares and 150 rooms is open to the public. Its grand spaces sometimes host important cultural events.

  • Souk Semmarine - After visiting Bahia Palace, we take a lunch break to enjoy traditional Moroccan food. We then walk through the Semmarine Souks to explore the colorful markets. Follow your guide to discover the markets in Marrakech’s Medina, where Arab and Berber cultures explode with color, noise, and originality. Smell spices, taste olives, touch leather goods, and buy local handicrafts.

  • Jemaa el-Fnaa - After navigating the labyrinth of the souks, we arrive at the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Here, snake charmers, storytellers, acrobats, and street vendors animate the old walled city. In the evening, the square becomes a hub for food, with small open-air restaurants. This is the main attraction for tourists in Marrakech.

  • Ben Youssef Madrasa - Lastly, we visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the largest Koranic school in the Medina, now functioning as a historical site. At its height, it was the largest Islamic college in Morocco. Named after the adjacent Ben Youssef Mosque, founded by the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf (reigned 1106-1142), it is considered one of the best spots in the Red City. Your guide will provide extensive information about it. Then we return to your accommodation.
