Swamp Airboat Tour: Small Group Experience Near NOLA

Experience an intimate group journey on this marshland exploration, located just 35 minutes from New Orleans. With a limit of six to nine people per airboat, you’ll have ample space to enjoy the scenic Louisiana wetlands from every perspective.

Duration: 2 hours
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Barataria Preserve - Travel along the Mississippi River and arrive at the departure location in Marrero, a 35 minute drive outside of New Orleans. You will be introduced to your captain and briefed quickly on procedure inside of the Airboat. Once everyone in the group is prepared to take off you captain will rev the engine.

This particular airport is powered by a 454 Chevy Engine that’s capable of accelerating to speeds as high as 35 miles per hour. The boat is propelled by a large fan behind the boat which can deliver wind speeds of over 200 miles per hour. This tour is fast and loud!

Your tour guide will take you around the swamp and make frequent stops for you to have encounters with the wildlife. Chances are you’ll probably have some reptilian visitors. The alligators have no problems making their way to the side of the boat and showing off for the visitors. After the tour of the swamp is complete you will be returned to the original departure location to make your way back to New Orleans.

Top gator experience - The airboat tour was the highlight of our time in Lousiana! Great young capitan - sadly we can’t remember the name. We saw gators, raccoons and koyotes! Really takes you into another world! Extremely cool! Would recommend!

Fascinating tour - Our transportation driver Gerald gave us history and landmarks of New Orleans including his personal story during Hurricane Katrina. It was a fascinating introduction to the area and culture in Louisiana. Captain Ernie was so knowledgeable. He studied Marine Biology so was able to explain so much about the gators, their breeding, feeding and survival. We drifted next to the gators and hot amazing photos and videos. Thanks for the tour.

Great Tour Guide! - Our tour guide, Captain Ernie, was fun, informative and cares about the gators! From pick-up to drop off, the experience was about 4 hours, so come fed and bring water. Great experience!

Small group airboat tour is a win! - Bobby was a great guide, and showed us some beautiful scenery as well as some curious swamp critters. My teens loved the speeding parts of the trip as well as seeing all the gators. We happened to catch Fluffy peeing on my son on video, so also a hilarious memory. Thank you for a job well done!

fun, but didn’t get the full 2hrs - The only complaint is that it’s advertised and priced as a 2 hour tour. Ours ended up being about 1.5 hours. Otherwise, it was fun and we saw a lot of alligators and other animals.
