This park boasts a diverse array of fauna, including impalas, topis, oribis, defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, common duikers, zebras, bofor reedbucks, giraffes, kobs, various antelopes, a multitude of bird species, and more. Initially established in 1933 as a controlled hunting area, it was later elevated to national park status in 1983 to promote the preservation of both flora and fauna. The park encompasses five lakes that provide a natural habitat for numerous creatures, notably crocodiles and hippos, while other wildlife and birds are frequently observed along the lake shores. The savannah terrain of the park is also home to two species of primates: the olive baboon and the vervet monkey. Nocturnal sightings may include hyenas, leopards, and the side-striped jackal.

The Savannah Lake also accommodates two primate species, namely, the olive monkey and the vervet monkey. Occasionally, you may spot hyenas, leopards, and the side-striped jackal during the night.
