Additional Information

Volubilis (known as Walili in Berber languages and وليلي in Arabic) is a partially excavated Berber city in Morocco, located near Meknes. It’s often recognized as the ancient capital of the kingdom of Mauretania.[1] Positioned in a rich agricultural zone, it began to develop from the 3rd century BC as a Berber and later a proto-Carthaginian settlement, eventually becoming the capital of the kingdom of Mauretania. Under Roman governance starting from the 1st century AD, the city saw rapid growth and expanded to encompass approximately 42 hectares (100 acres) enclosed by a 2.6 km (1.6 mi) wall.

A must Moroccan travel experience! - This trip was one of the top on my excursion list and my young, driver, Mohammed made it very easy and enjoyable. He was not my guide on the trip, but Muhammad was able to effectively communicate my interests with the guide as he spoke the native language. His had great, historical knowledge of the city of Moulay Idris Zarhon; a small and excellent city. After Moulay Idris Zarhon, I went to volubilis, which is very beautiful and has the most grand and impressive Roman ruins. We then went on to Meknes, which also proved to be worth the trip!

Excursion to Meknes, Moukay Idriss and Volubilis. - Good option to visit these unmissable enclaves. Anouar accompanied us in a comfortable 9-seater minivan. Excellent command of Spanish and very fun and enjoyable, chatting during the tour so it doesn't get boring. Triangular tour, first Moulay Idriss, a small town nestled on a hill with a local guide in English/French (Dh. 20 tip is recommended but it is a free tour) then Volubilis (Dh. 70 entrance fee) And now, to eat in Meknés for It's up to each person and to visit the city a little until 6:30 p.m. And from there it's 1 hour back to Fes (the way out was on another road with half an hour more to travel). Pickup and drop-off near your accommodation.
