In 1974 Pope Paul VI conferred the title and dignity of minor basilica on it.
• Cooks’ Cottage - Cooks’ Cottage, also known as Captain Cook’s Cottage,[7] is located in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, Australia. The cottage was constructed in 1755 in the English village of Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, by the parents of Captain James Cook, James and Grace Cook, and was brought to Melbourne in 1934 by the Australian philanthropist Sir Russell Grimwade. It is a point of conjecture among historians whether James Cook, the famous navigator, ever lived in the house, but almost certainly he visited his parents at the house.

It aims to display the fauna that was found in the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve prior to European settlement as well as working towards the recovery of threatened Australian fauna.

These golden, sheltered, sandy beaches in Cowes are located in Westernport Bay with low winds and gentle waves, making them a popular choice for families. The jetty is perfect for fishing and is the departure point for several ferries. You’ll also find the Cowes Yacht Club west of Mussel Rocks.

• The Nobbies - The Nobbies is an incredibly important site for Australia’s largest colony of Fur Seals. These cobblestone rocks that jut out of the water are a dramatic strip of land attached to the Phillip Island coastline. At the Nobbies Visitor Centre boardwalk that leads out to the lookout, keep an eye out for the penguins who nest underneath the boardwalk.
• Phillip Island Nature Parks - Penguin Parade - Watch little penguins dash home across the sand at dusk at Phillip Island Nature Parks’ Penguin Parade. Explore boardwalks after dark to see, smell and hear these penguins in the colony, greeting neighbours, partners and their chicks. While you wander, keep an eye out for resident wildlife including swamp wallabies, Eastern barred bandicoots, Cape Barren geese and short-tailed shearwaters.
