We initiate our exploration via international route N°7, offering a striking vista of the Potrerillos Dam. Our journey continues to Uspallata; a former pre-Hispanic residence of the indigenous Huarpe people, presently serving as the main village on this mountain trail. From here, we travel to the southernmost point of the Inca Empire, heading to the settlements of Picheuta, Polvaredas, Punta de Vacas and the once-bustling Penitentes ski resort.
Deep into our route, we discover Puente del Inca, a singular natural rock configuration adorned with hot springs that form a bridge over Las Cuevas River. A short drive off, the viewpoint at 2750 m presents the Colossus of the Americas, towering at an impressive 6962 m, drawing globe-trotters wishing to conquer its peak.
Our adventure culminates at Las Cuevas villa, situated at an altitude of 3200 m, where we savor our lunch and explore a genuine representation of our homeland’s villages.
