Highlights
  • Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza - The quad excursion is ideal for those who want to discover the nature of Etna by experiencing an exciting off-road adventure. The excursion takes place throughout the entire itinerary on a quad, automatic and easy to drive, which can safely transport up to a maximum of two people, who will be responsible for their own vehicle.

On the way we will cross an eruptive fracture, driving our quads between long lava fields and volcanic black sand we will admire explosive craters and discover one of the many beauties that distinguish Etna: a lava flow cave. We will then stop to visit the typical buildings of the area, similar to the Sardinian nuraghi or the Apulian trulli.

Continuing along the route we will cross the Etna broom forest, we will descend along the lava flow channels, passing between lunar and “dagale” landscapes, wooded islands surrounded by petrified lava.
We will cross a forest of Etna pines, along the bed of a dry stream, where the landscape is characterized by the alternation of lava and woods. We will then return to the starting point and finish the quad tour.

Went the extra mile for us. - After driving from Messina and arriving late for our booked tour the company managed to get us on another tour that suited our time restricted itinerary, great service from this company. The tour was excellent fun and informative with a mix of driving challenges over different terrain, just right for the group. Thank you Etna Esagonal Trekking Tour for providing a great experience.

Stunning ! - We chose the quad tour for our first time on Etna without really knowing what to expect. To our great surprise, the visit was intense! The quad in the craters and flows was a memorable experience. A big thank you to our two guides, Andrea and Daniel for their kindness, they knew how to help us discover this grandiose landscape in the best possible way. To be done again without a doubt ☺️

Completely hustled and missold, we went DOWN the volcano not up as promised - Completely hustled and missold, we were on our way to the cable car when we were approached by these guys for a quad ride. They said you go hugher than the cable car for the same price. The rep took us to a map and showed us where we would go. We paid the £100 and expected to go, no one told us the next tour was in 2 hours so had to sit around and wait, we were purposely short changed in the cafe and had to argue with the assistant to get our €10 they tried to keep. We eventually started the tour, 20 minutes later than scheduled only to be taken very slowly like jogging speed DOWN the volcano and nowhere near to where we were promised, the vast majority of it it just on the road we drove up in the hire car with only a short off road section to a small cave and hut, that’s it tour over back to the office. We had to pay for an excursion and come back another day to actually go up the volcano, who on earth wants to pay to go down a volcano? Very dishonest, completely taken for granted and to be avoided at all costs. How they’re well rated it beyond me.
