Book a tour with Mena! - After having wanted to go for who knows how many years I finally decided to see Teotihuacán and it did not disappoint! I didn't quite know how to go about getting there since I traveled to Mexico City on my own, so I did what everyone else does and did a Google search. Through that search I found a few tours, but the name Traveling Herbivore just got my attention so I decided to book a tour. I'm so glad that I booked with Mena! She is just a fun and awesome person to be around. She was knowledgeable about the pyramids and knew some good guides that brought us into the site itself. The lunch was at a local family's house. We had an authentic homemade vegan Mexican lunch and it was delicious. Meeting the family was a really great experience, too I know that she does tours in other parts of Mexico and I know that whenever I return I will be sure to book a tour with her.

100% worth it - Me and a friend took the Teotihuacan tour two weeks ago. The tour was a really unique experience, since we got to meet a 2 local families and see their homes. At lunch, we had a really wonderful homemade mexican lunch consisting of tlacoyos covered in red tomato sauce, mexican beans with herbs and local spices as well as really refreshing (and natural) hibiscus water. Everything was vegan and really yummy! We also got to experience public transportation, which was really cool. Our guide inside the pyramids was super sweet and answered all our questions. Definitely recommend to anyone, but specially if you are vegetarian/vegan and want to try real mexican food and not just be "catered" to. Unlike other tours, this is specifically for vegans and vegetarians but also for people who don't want to be bussed around together with other 20 people. This tour gives a great glimpse into a local life, and we particularly loved that Mena works directly with families from Teotihuacan. 100% worth it.
