Highlights
  • Monolithos - Your hike starts near the beautiful rural village of Monolithos, on the undeveloped and as yet unspoilt western side of the island. The summit of Akramitis, the second highest in Rhodes, is your goal for today!
The hike gradually ascends on green slopes under cypress trees overlooking the bay of Apollakia. Soon the hiking trail becomes more demanding as you start to walk along a rocky path. After the most strenuous stint, you find yourself surrounded by colourful shrubs leading to the first stop of the day
  • the tiny old chapel of St John. Here you will have a welcome snack and then it’s onwards and upwards to the top.
Just before you arrive, you find yourself again scrambling over rocks for a short time but once you reach the summit you will be lost for words. From the top of the mountain, you get to see both sides of Rhodes, the nearby islands, the lake of Apollakia, Attaviros (the highest mountain on Rhodes) and inland Rhodes.
You will follow a different route on the way down during your Hiking Tour Akramitis Mountain, one that takes you through a forest of tall pine trees. This hiking tour is ideal for anybody who likes to get off the beaten track!

Amazing experience. - The whole day was amazing. We were picked up from our hotel and returned. The team had a great energy, they looked after you. You can tell that they are looked after by there company. They all love what they do. Great to talk to. Lots of stops along the way with some history. The snacks and food were lush. Would 100% recommend this trip to anyone considering it. Great experience, especially getting to the summit.

An absolute must do - epic views and great guides - This was a truly brilliant experience, my son and I love exploring and this was an epic day out with two lovely other hikers and the two guides, the guides were full of information, friendly and kept a good pace whilst also being considerate of the group. The views were truly awe inspiring and we stopped for a home made traditional lunch at a beautiful little chapel on a flower filled plateau. We saw a dung beetle actually rolling a ball of dung and continued up through clean air and spring flowers. Walking poles were provided and needed but mainly on way down. And the views from the top of Rhodes behind you and the Aegean with a sprinkling of islands was just a view I’ll remember for ever. Splendid and hugely recommend !

One of the best days of my stay - I would rate Tsambikos , our guide, 6/5 if that would be possible. He was very knowledgeable, fun, accommodative and seemed to be completely in his element in the mountains . The paths we took included loads of different beautiful scenery and was not too difficult. The car ride was a bit long but worth it. Would definitely recommend for people who enjoy hiking and enjoying the views from within the actual scene, with nothing but the wind and birdsong in the background!

Great hike to Akramatis - We were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour with two very pleasant guides, Stavros and another which name I cant spell or pronounce, sorry, but you guys were great and we had a great hike to the summit. It felt very exclusive to be the only ones on the hike. We were treated with homecooked pie with feta cheese and spinach - very delicious and details of vegetation, the area in general and if course greek mythology as we were hiking... :-) We can highly recommend this hike... A great hike in Rhodes - This was a lovely day out on Akramitis, the second highest mountain in Rhodes. We climbed up to the top, which is at 823 metres! We were a group of four travellers and two guides, Jim and George. The guys are super knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, and they even carried snacks and extra water for anyone who had run out! The hike itself was lovely, spring is an excellent time of year to be in Rhodes as there are many different flowers. The views from the top of the mountain are gorgeous! In terms of difficulty, I found the uphill climb easy, but was happy to have the trekking poles on the way back, as it's quite steep. The guys showed me how to use them and I got used to them pretty quickly. We also had some great discussions about tourism / sustainable tourism and outdoors experiences in Rhodes and all of Greece. All in all, I'd warmly recommend this hike to anyone who is interested in discovering a side of Rhodes that few people get to experience!

Well-organised & fun! - I had such a great time on this hike! The climb up is a bit steep, but it's nicely shaded by woodlands, and the view is really worth it. The tour guides are brilliant too - they were really engaging and made an effort to chat to everyone in the group individually. They also brought some tasty home-made food (and other treats!), which exceeded my expectations as I assumed the snack would be a store bought energy bar.

2 fun filled days hiking in Rhodes - Well, what can I say about the 2 days I hiked with the team from Trekking Hellas?Excellent experience about sums up the Hiking Akramitis Mountain and the Trekking to Lindos days (2 separate days). From start to finish - from pre-booking email enquiries, the booking process itself, the guides, the routes, the delicious Greek snacks, the water that was provided - all the practicalities were first class. But the best thing about the 2 days I spent with them was the guides - their knowledge, their sense of humour, their friendliness as I was a solo traveller - they made my 2 days out with them just perfect. So a huge thank you to Jimmy, Tsabikos, George, Lisette and Maria for their helpfulness and great company. I can't recommend them highly enough - you won't be disappointed if you book a day with them :-) I'm planning to visit again next year and do some sea-kayaking with them :-)
