Highlights
  • Cannery Row - Our shop is located at the end of what was once a bustling fishing and canning area in the mid-1900s. Our ride starts here on a 10mph straight, flat, paved recreation trail reserved for bikes and pedestrians, allowing you to get used to your e-bike.
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium - Ride past the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium!
  • Lovers Point - Local legend says this park was originally named “Lovers of Jesus Point” during the time when Pacific Grove was a Methodist retreat camp.
  • John Denver Memorial - The John Denver Memorial serves as a poignant reminder of one of the greatest tragedies in American music history. John Denver, known for his singing, songwriting, environmental activism, and humanitarian efforts, died when his plane crashed in Monterey Bay on October 12, 1997. The memorial celebrates his incredible legacy as you take in the stunning ocean views, a fitting tribute to the artist. Even if you weren’t a fan, this coastal spot between Pacific Grove and Asilomar is beautiful. Admission to the memorial is free.
  • Point Pinos Lighthouse - Point Pinos Lighthouse was first lit on February 1, 1855, to guide ships along California’s Pacific Coast. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States, with its original lens still intact. Located at the southern entrance to Monterey Bay, it’s a great spot to watch for migrating whales! There is also a potential bathroom stop here at the edge of the PG Golf Course.
  • Asilomar State Beach - Also known as “Refuge by the Sea,” Asilomar State Beach is Pacific Grove’s largest beach, stretching one mile and featuring rocky coves. It’s popular with surfers, kayakers, and dog walkers, offering beautiful views and walking trails. As part of the Asilomar Marine Reserve, fishing is prohibited due to its rich ecosystem and biodiversity.
  • 17-Mile Drive - This stunning stretch of coastline is filled with unexpected history. Watch surfers, admire amazing beach homes and mansions, listen to the waves, and breathe in the ocean air.
  • The Links at Spanish Bay - Marvel at the youngest of the golf courses and the second of the two lodges in Pebble Beach. Enjoy the beautiful white sand of Moss Beach and learn about the Spanish explorers who first landed here.
  • Point Joe - Point Joe is the fifth point on 17-Mile Drive. Its coastline, made of granite rocks formed 65 million years ago, gives it a rugged appearance. Historically, the area has seen several shipwrecks due to its rocky shores and proximity to Monterey Bay. The origin of the name Point Joe is debated; some historians believe it was named after a Chinese man who lived in a driftwood structure here in the early 1900s and sold goods to explorers. It’s unclear whether Point Joe was named for the man or if the man was named after the location. It’s a great spot to look for Southern Sea Otters.
  • China Rock - Visit the site of an old Chinese fishing village. Depending on the tide and waves, there may be an opportunity for tide-pooling.
  • Bird Rock Vista Point - Take a restroom break here and watch sea lions play in the water. Observe various sea bird species and rafting sea otters. Your guide will help identify the wildlife and share interesting facts about the animals and the rock.
  • Fanshell Overlook - Stop to look for sea otters at this scenic viewpoint. Learn about the Cypress Point Country Club from your guide. Note: This stop is closed in the spring to protect the harbor seals pupping on the nearby beach.
  • Cypress Point Lookout - Another spot to look for sea otters and learn about the Cypress Point Country Club. On a clear day, you can see the Point Sur Lighthouse in Big Sur, 30 miles away.
  • Crocker Grove - Ride through winding roads under a canopy of the oldest Monterey Cypress trees in existence.
  • Lone Cypress - See the 250-year-old tree that serves as the trademark for the Pebble Beach Company. It’s likely the most photographed tree in the world.
  • Ghost Tree - For faster tours, we add this bonus stop. The views of Point Lobos and Carmel Bay are breathtaking.
  • Pebble Beach Golf Links - Admire the beauty of Carmel Bay at the 18th hole behind The Lodge. Learn about golf history, purchase a souvenir at your own expense, and take photos. Our guide will be happy to snap a few pictures at no extra cost. There is no additional charge to explore The Lodge.

Beautiful Scenic Ride! - It was truly a great ride! The scenery was awesome and the weather turned out to be perfect. Pebble Beach is absolutely beautiful! I’m now looking to replace my standard commuter bicycle with an E-bike because of this tour. You can cover more ground, conquer hills, and not be totally worn out. I’m turning 65 soon.

No trainer. - Wow, our tour guide was fantastic, the ride was beautiful, the bikes were easy to use and you really got to pick and choose how hard or easy the ride was. We got to see so much more this way than we would have on our own. 10/10 will do again.

Great Tour to a Great Coast - Cathy is a great guide and showed us places we would not have found without her. She knows a lot about the region and told us astonishing things. As we were a very small group she readily adjusted the tour to our special interests - thanks a lot, Cathy!

Fabulous Day Out & Amazing Views - Go Electric - Stevie was very helpful in selecting the electric bikes. We started in Monterey and went all the way to Carmel. There is a sister shop in Carmel to charge your bike for the trip back to Monterey after walking around Carmel. Met the owner in Carmel. Amazing views all along 17 Mile Drive. You can see so much more from a bike. Absolutely breathtaking coastline. Easy peasy on an electric bike. The trip takes you past Pebble Beach golf club and there are is a visitor centre to grab a drink before pressing on to Carmel. Wonderful on a sunny California day. Thanks to everyone at Mad Dogs.
