As a protected marine sanctuary rich with nutrients, the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon thrives with a bounty of breathtaking wildlife including Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Gray Whales, Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Risso Dolphins, Long Beaked Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, Dall’s Porpoise, Mola Mola aka Ocean Sunfish, Jellyfish, Sea Turtles, Sea Lions, Pelicans, Sea Otters and so much more!

Great whale watching - Excellent trip. Crew were really helpful from the start and extremely knowledgeable. We were fortunate to see numerous whales culminating in four humpbacks surrounded by sealions just off our boat. Couldn’t recommend it more highly. Just remember to take some warm clothes with you. It can get a bit chilly.

Close encounters with two humpbacks! - Two humpback whales maintained very close contact with our boat for approximately 25 minutes. Our captain or naturalist guide provided great information about them
They swam beneath our boat and emerged along side.us numerous times. She was able to quickly tell us where they would emerge, so we could see them quickly. This was very exciting. We also saw many other whales at a greater distance.

Monterey whale watching! - Amazing experience! We saw lots of humpback whales and seals. If you are prone to motion sickness make sure you take something in advance, the boat rocks a LOT. If you are unsteady on your feet this is not for you. I cannot recommend this enough so much fun! As other reviews mention it does get cool/cold, dress appropriately. I don’t get cold very easily after and hour and a half outside I was getting cold. The whales were so close it was incredible. Take the trip it’s worth it!

Amazing experience for a weekend - Amazing experience! The humpback whales came close by the boat and we were able to watch them closely. They’re totally harmless huge lovely animals.

What memories are made of. - Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly. We were taken to a great spot and saw many whales. A couple of complete breeches. Saw dolphins. Great experience!!

Great Whale watching trip - Amazing whale watching and the staff were very nice. Weather and sightings are about luck so there is not way to judge that (we got good weather and saw Humpbacks and dolphins). The check-in process was easy and the experience very good. If you can choose a location in the front of the boat, as it makes viewing easier.

Very enjoyable and successful trip (if a bit chilly)! - Knowledgeable and informative crew.
Very misty conditions but they managed to find 2 different sitings for us- a total of 5 humpbacks.

Great trip - What a great trip. Very easy process from start to finish. Crew were very informative and helpful. Would have like to have seen more whales but what we did see was great and a beautiful day on the water. Also many dolphins and sea lion pods. Very rocky ride so fair warning if you get sea sick.
