Incredible personalized birding tour - Jean Carlo was an incredible birding guide who took us to El Tigre Waterfalls. He is not only super knowledgeable and can identify practically every bird you come across, he is also incredibly passionate about it all. The perfect combination for an awesome day in the field! Could not recommend him more highly!

A Wonderful Guide and Experience - Jean Carlo was an excellent guide, giving us great information about the birds we saw, taking us to places where we could see a variety of birds and also sharing an ebird list of the birds we saw with us, afterwards.He was friendly and considerate. A highlight was seeing the keel-billed toucan at its nest, a northern emerald toucanet, white fronted parrots and orange-chinned parakeet! What an enjoyable day!

Great birding experience - Carlo was a pleasant and very knowledgeable bird guide! He took us to two locations, both were fruitful. We saw a black breasted wood quail and a olive streaked flycatcher singing their heart out in a mating song. Absolutely remarkable. We saw more than we expected and enjoyed every minute.

Monteverde Birdwatching Tour - Jean Carlo was punctual in picking me up at my hotel. He has a good command of the English language and asked me what I most wanted to see. He hit all the marks on finding those species including the Resplendent Quetzal, a bird that is not easy to find. He understands the habitat preferences of the birds and was the first one on some of the species among a number of guides. He went the extra distance by explaining the rarity of some species and showed me range maps in the field. He scouted ahead to find new species as I paused to take photographs. Jean Carlo tracked our observation on e-Bird so I could spend all my time looking and photographing. We took a coffee break at my request and had a nice conversation. We observed over 60 species in the five-hour period. It was great time and a life experience for me. I highly recommend Jean Carlo Tours.

Birding experince beyond expectations - A big recommendation for Jean Carlo from me and my girlfriend. He picked us up in a timely manner and took us on a wonderful birding trip tailored to our needs. He is very kind and exceptional at spotting and drawing out interesting birds. I got great pictures of both Quetsal, Motmots, Bell-bird, Trogons, Long-tailed Manakin, and other very interesting ones. I would especially recommend him to birders who already has some basic insight into the hobby. He is in the top 40 among bird watchers in Costa Rica and his guidance is brilliant when looking for regionally rare species beyond the normal sightings on a typical tourist check-list.

So many colourful birds, specialist enthusiastic guide! - Really enjoyed this tour! We saw over 60 different species of birds (+ many monkeys). The colours of the birds are just stunning! The enthusiasm & passion of the guide really shines through. There’s no way we would have spotted anywhere near the amount of birds without having the guide. I would highly recommend if you want a tour focused on seeing birds. Which I would also recommend as the birds in Costa Rica are beautiful!!

Wonderful birding experience with a skilled and passionate birder! - Where do I even start? Jean Carlo was such an excellent guide, always so kind, considerate, and informative. He spotted many beautiful birds for us including motmots and several gorgeous euphonias. I'm a novice birder, just picking up the hobby, and Jean Carlo essentially provided me a 4 hour coaching session with our tour. I learned so much from him in regards to birding and I will always be grateful for this experience. His passion is infectious and I feel that the trajectory of my birding has been so positively affected by him. I will definitely reach back out to him when I return to Monteverde in the future for more birding.

Excellent Birding Guide and Expert. Hire Him! - Jean Carlos is an amazing expert birding guide. The morning we spent with him was one of our best experiences of the trip. Jean Carlos began the tour by asking which birds we more most hoping to see, and he tailored the day's birdwatching accordingly. All told, we sighted nearly 50 species. Had we had another day in Monteverde, we would've gladly hired him again.

Take this birding tour! - This was the best thing we did in Costa Rica. Jean Carlo is a very experienced birder and excellent guide. He is flexible to adjust the birding locations based on any target species you're hoping for. We enjoyed viewing so many species over the course of our tour. Some highlights were the Collared Trogon, Scarlet-thighed Dacnis, Masked Tityra, Elegant Euphonia. Jean Carlo uses eBird and shared the checklist for the day with us afterward.
