  • Plaza Matriz - Your first stop is in the historic Old Town, where you can admire stunning colonial-era buildings. The old town is enclosed by Spanish military fortifications, with stone walls marking the boundaries of the fortified San Felipe y Santiago city, guarded by the Ciudadela fortress. You can also visit the Solis Theatre, The Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Museo Torres Garcia, and other museums. The area is also home to numerous galleries, cafes, and antique shops.

  • Palacio Legislativo - This is the seat of the Uruguayan Legislative Power. The palace is a magnificent marble structure with exceptional architecture and landscaping.

  • Mercado Agricola Montevideo - MAM - From the Parliament area, you’ll take a scenic ride to Mercado Agricola Montevideo (MAM), one of the last iron-built markets in Montevideo. What started as a modest fruit and vegetable stand in 1913 has grown into a shopping mall spanning a city block, offering a variety of goods. Today, you can still find vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables. The building was refurbished in 2006, revitalizing the entire neighborhood.

  • Plaza Independencia - Next, you’ll visit Plaza Independencia (Independence Square) near the city center. Here, you can see the statue and Mausoleum of General Artigas, a national hero of Uruguay. You’ll also see the Presidential offices, Palacio Estevez, Palacio Salvo, and the Ciudadela Gate. Continuing on, you’ll see the Parliament Palace, inaugurated in 1925. Its neoclassical architectural style symbolizes the country’s democratic values.

  • Carreta Monument - The Monumento a la Carreta is a historic artwork located in Montevideo, Uruguay. Sculpted by José Belloni, it was inaugurated on October 14, 1934, in Batlle Park. The work is inspired by gauchos, rural life, and old cargo transportation methods before the advent of automobiles and railroads.

  • Montevideo Letters - Head to the beautiful sands of Pocitos Beach and take a photo at the Montevideo sign. Enjoy the picturesque view of Pocitos Bay from here.

  • Estadio Centenario - Continue to Parque Batlle, the largest public park and green space in the city. Here, you can pause at La Carreta, a stunning bronze monument depicting oxen pulling a covered wagon, created in 1934 by Jose Belloni. Nearby, you’ll also see the famous Estadio Centenario, a soccer stadium inaugurated in 1930 for the World Cup, which Uruguay won. On July 18, 1983, FIFA declared it a World Football Historical Monument, the only construction of its kind in the world.

  • Mercado del Puerto - Make a brief stop at the Port Market (Mercado del Puerto) and admire the iron structure built in Liverpool. Today, this area is one of the city’s most popular gastronomic centers, where locals and visitors can enjoy delicious Uruguayan meat cooked on large barbecues. Many artists also perform in the surrounding area, turning the streets into open-air theaters. Return along the River Plate, enjoying city views as you head back to the port area and your ship.

  • Rambla de Montevideo - The Rambla de Montevideo is a 24-kilometer-long avenue that runs along the coast of the Rio de la Plata in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. It serves as both a major vehicular route and a pedestrian promenade. It is lined with numerous beaches, including Ramírez (Parque Rodó), Pocitos, Buceo, Malvín, and Carrasco.

On weekends, thousands of people of all ages come here for walks, recreation, and fresh air. In several spots, especially in the Rambla Sur, it is a popular place for sport fishing.
