  • Omanu Beach Surf Life Saving Club - We’ll pause here for a comfort break and more fantastic photo opportunities of your group and the expansive Pacific coastline.
  • Te Puke - Visit one of the original Kiwi orchards in the Kiwifruit capital of the world. You’ll be amazed by the fruit-laden vines and the meticulous care that goes into growing them, as they are a vital part of the local economy.
  • Mangorewa River - Travel to Rotorua via a scenic route showcasing native fauna and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean as we descend from the central Plateau.
  • Whakarewarewa - The Living Maori Village - Entry is included to this historic geothermal village where local Maori still reside. Enjoy a 40-minute cultural performance featuring music, dance, and the unforgettable Haka. The Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people have a rich history of sharing their culture, originally guiding tourists at the Pink and White Terraces before the Mt Tarawera eruption. With special permission, we can view the famous Pohutu and Prince of Wales Feathers geysers.
  • Lake Rotorua - Choose from one of three reputable cafes in downtown Rotorua for a relaxing lunch with great food and ambiance.
  • Government Gardens - A gentle drive through the beautiful Government Gardens and past the Tudor-style Rotorua Museum. Photo stop included.
  • Rotorua Museum - Explore the beautiful gardens and museum.
  • Polynesian Spa - Relax in the soothing mineral waters or enjoy a mud massage. This is a wonderful setting, especially recommended in winter. We can replace the Whakarewarewa experience with 90 minutes here if preferred.
  • Lake Okareka Walkway - Take postcard-worthy photos with Lake Okareka in the foreground and Mt Tarawera in the background.
  • Tikitapu Nature Walk - Experience a prime example of New Zealand native forest, abundant with tall podocarps and various fern species. Enjoy the walk without fear of dangerous wildlife.
  • Mt. Tarawera - Marvel at the breathtaking view of Mt Tarawera and learn about the 1886 eruption. This is a prime photo opportunity. The volcano, which buried the Pink and White Terraces and a local village, can be seen across the lake. Bring your camera!
  • Lake Tikitapu - Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Lake Rotokakahi (Green Lake) are two gems in a beautiful native forest. Blue Lake is open for swimming, boating, and barbecuing, while Green Lake is sacred and off-limits. Enjoy panoramic photos from the lookout between the lakes.
  • Okere Falls - Our last stop before the 50-minute journey back to your ship. Fit and able visitors can descend 60 steps to a natural space close to the rapids of the Kaituna River, which drains the lakes of Rotorua and Rotoiti.
  • Wai-O-Tapu - If time permits, we’ll travel towards the center of the North Island to view the fascinating boiling mud pools, a favorite of our longest-serving guide, Kerry. This adds an additional 45 minutes to our tour.

A Wonderful Day With Kerry and Arrow Tours - Guides like Kerry are why we opt for private tours rather than the ship’s tour.”s. We had an absolutely wonderful time and would urge everyone to give Arrow Tours and Kerry the opportunity to show you Rotorua. You won’t regret it.

Special, Unique Experiences All Day - Kerry was a great guide, personable, informative and met all of our needs. He said and made us feel that this was "our day". After a drive through lovely Tauranga, we headed inland to a kiwi farm where we met the owner. This was a very unique experience. We then drove to Rotorua where we stopped to see several sites before reaching the Maori Thermal Village. We enjoyed a 30-minute Maori show and the thermal springs and gobbled meat pies for lunch in the Village. For us, the highlight of the trip was seeing the Green and Blue Lakes in the afternoon and nearby redwood forest. All in all, it was a great day. We couldn't have asked for more.

Amazing Sights - This was an excellent tour! Great help from Toby in coordinating our cruise dock pickup. Our guide, Kerry, was punctual, provided great insight into the various stops on our tour and made sure we hit all of the stops before the cruise ship buses. There were so many interesting sights it's hard to pick a highlight of the tour. The thermal activity in Rotorua, the geysers and bubbling mud, the Maori dance performance, the redwood forest, the blue and green lakes. Amazing!

Informative, fun and relaxed - no time restraints! - Tony was wonderfully passionate about his home and extremely informative. We booked for just 3 of us, although for the same cost we could have had 8 people and it still worked out cheaper than the cruise ship excursion. But the main bonus was not the price, it was the flexibility and relaxed time we had - my mum is disabled so we could spend as little or as much time at each highlight. We had great laughs with Tony along the way - we were 2 poms and an Aussie so the banter was fab. The Māori living village and performance were amazing but the views and stop offs Tony showed us were spectacular. Would thoroughly recommend - you won’t be disappointed. Ask for Tony to be your guide!!

Toby Lerew - the best tour guide! - Toby Lerew was a wonderful, honest, and knowledgeable tour guide when we toured Tauranga in December 2022. He was upfront with his fees, and unlike other drivers we’ve had while traveling abroad, he did not attempt to defraud us. He took us to all the sites for the best photograph opportunities, and he provided thorough explanations. He also purchased fresh fruit for us to eat. Thank you, Tony!

Private tour Tauranga & Rotorua, New Zealand - We cruised to NZ from Brisbane on the Sea Princess for 2 weeks. Having berthed in Tauranga we wanted to take a tour for our family group of 7. We met Roger Simister from Arrow Tours at the Port and he offered to take us on a day trip. We discussed and agreed on the price and time allowed, so off we set. Roger was a very personable man, a great tour guide and explained all about the areas we visited. Due to the fact we had some small children we finished our day after 5 hours which was excellent for our family group. Thank you Roger for our great day out in Tauranga and Rotorua and best wishes for the coming New Year.
