Additional Information

Hello, I’m Karlo and I’m here to present to you an exceptionally historical tour that opens from Tbilisi. Our journey commences at 9.30 am from Tbilisi, with us picking you up from your accommodation. Our first stop is JVARI Church, a 6th-century pivotal religious hub renowned for its architectural brilliance from Georgia’s middle ages. Savour the stunning panorama of MTSKETA city as viewed from this towering church. We then proceed to SVETITSKHOVELI Cathedral, famed as the repository of Christ’s mantel and considered the country’s second-largest ecclesiastical structure from the 11th century. Our next expedition is to UPLISTSIKHE, an antiquated cave city and among Georgia’s earliest civic settlements. This township boasts a diverse cluster of structures dated back to the 12th century BC. We also pay a visit to GORI’s Stalin’s Museum, dedicated to the lifetime of JOSEPH STALIN. The tour reaches its finale with the CRONICLE OF GEORGIA, Tbilisi’s towering Monument. We are confident that you will find this tour indelibly memorable. Thanks for choosing us!

Fun private day tour from Tblisi - Karlo arranged for George to be our guide for the day. George was prompt, polite, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his country. He arrived in an immaculately clean and very spacious SUV which my long-legged husband really appreciated. It was a long day (from 10am to just after 7pm) some of which was due to heavy traffic back in Tblisi as we made our way to the Chronicle of Georgia and then to our hotel. Despite what must have been frustrating driving, George remained cheerful and patient. We were impressed! Our day was scheduled so that we went first to Jvari Monastery (lovely and a great view), then to Gori (where we enjoyed viewing Stalin's childhood home and his train, but opted to skip the museum when we learned it was a minimum 45 minutes). After that we went to the "cave town" of Uplistsikhe (where we opted for the wine tasting; this was a great stop). The only issue we had with the tour was due to a miscommunication about when we wanted to eat lunch and we should have eaten at Uplistsikhe. We Americans eat lunch at noon to 1pm, so it was a long time between meals for us. George would have been happy to stop if we'd made that clear and I recommend just telling him upfront when you would like to eat and he'll make it happen. We ate just before Mtskheta, the former capital and its impressive cathedral, then headed back to Tblisi for the Chronicle.

Superb Day Trip From Tbilisi - Our full day tour was terrific. We were a group of 4 and Karlo arranged for his friend Akaki ("Ako") to pick us up at our hotel in a comfortable Toyota Serena van. Ako was punctual, friendly, polite, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. He is passionate about giving guests a thorough and entertaining history of Georgia, its people, cultural norms and cuisine. He took us to Jvari Monastery, the ancient village of Mtsketa and its beautiful 11th century cathedral, arranged a superb lunch, then drove us to the Stalin Museum in Gori. We tasted Churchkhela, the Georgian snack of stringed walnuts dipped in semi-sweet wine sauce - delicious! He also took us to the impressive Chronicles of Georgia in Tbilisi, a formation of towering bronze monuments depicting Georgian mythology and important historical events and figures in bas relief. Ako left us keen to return to Georgia and explore other regions, like the Caucasus and Black Sea towns. We had a wonderful day. Ako was a superb guide - and a very safe driver too. The tour was the highlight of our visit to Georgia.

Excellent tour guide & highlight of our trip so far - We had an absolutely brilliant day with George. A careful driver and a knowledgeable guide, we also had a great laugh. We packed a lot in on our tour and George made the day a lot of fun. This is a great value for money tour - it is extremely varied and interesting, and the private option allowed us to go at our own pace. Great for my 72 year old mum! You won't regret making the booking - highlight of our trip so far.

Thank you George! - The trip was well executed and covered all points of interest. We were promptly picked up by our guide George, who is a knowledgeable and lovely man, and a competent driver. We were comfortably chauffeured to all sites, and stayed as little or as long as we liked. George provided explanations, guidance, and anecdotes. A tip for travelers in this season - it can get very windy in the mountains, so dress appropriately and bring gloves.

Tons of History. Like traveling with a friend! - This tour was fantastic. Would certainly recommend if looking for a private tour experience. The Chronicles of Georgia are incredible and imposing and so much better in person. The cave city is also a must...it feels endless! Karlo is an awesome guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable and provides you with an experience that is reminiscent of friends taking a road trip together. And he is a very interesting person in his own right.

Excellent tour with Mamuka - Tour was excellent! Mamuka was responsive even before we met. Came earlier, which is always appreciated. Was very informative and knowledgeable about the various buildings and history of the places mixed in with a fun sense of humour that made the tour more interesting. He was most helpful, even taking pictures of me on his phone and sending them, which is a plus plus.
