Neuschwanstein Castle stands above Hohenschwangau near Füssen in the southeastern Bavarian Allgäu, and according to Wikipedia; the building was built in 1869 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II as an idealized idea of a knight’s castle from the Middle Ages. The king only lived in the Castle for a few months. He died before the facility was completed.
Neuschwanstein is the most famous of Ludwig II’s Castles and one of the most famous sights in Germany. It is visited by around 1.5 million Tourists every year. This Castle is often referred to as a “fairytale castle”, and is open to visitors almost all year round.
