Highlights
  • Cawdor Castle - Departing Invergordon, we travel to our first stop of the day, Cawdor Castle. Set amid beautiful gardens in Nairnshire, Cawdor Castle is the ancestral home of the Campbells and dates back to the 15th Century. Spend time here exploring the castle and its picturesque surroundings
  • Inverness Castle - We then leave Nairnshire and journey on to Inverness; Capital of the Highlands. We spend over an hour here, plenty of time to enjoy lunch and walk along the banks of the River Ness and perhaps get some good views of Inverness Castle.
  • Loch Ness - From Inverness, our Invergordon shore excursion continues on to Loch Ness for a quick photo and refreshment break, allowing you the opportunity for a quick bit of Nessie Hunting!
  • Beauly Station - We then travel to Beauly, a small Highland town situated on the scenic River Beauly. Beauly gets its name from the French beau lieu, meaning “beautiful place” – it is believed that this came from a comment from Mary Queen of Scots when she visited the town in 1564. We pause here for photos
  • The Singleton Distillery - Glen Ord is the only remaining single malt whisky distillery situated in the Black Isle and is the home of Singleton Whisky. Enjoy a tour of the distillery, finishing off your Invergordon Shore Excursion with a tasting of the Singleton of Glen Ord 12 year old whisky.

Nice Day - We had a good experience on this tour. Our Guide was Mo who was very easy going and knowledgeable. She went out of her way to explain the stops and help us navigate the areas. Our driver Sharon was also very nice. Cawdor Castle is worth seeing however we had visited about 10 castles during our time in the UK so there was some redundancy. The stop at Inverness was good but too short. ( 60 Min) You'll only have time for either a sit down lunch or walking around to see the city. Tough to do both. The stop at Loch Ness was along the side of the road and was not in a particularity scenic spot, still it was good to see the Loch but unfortunately we didn't see Nessie. The visit to Glen Ord Distillery was fantastic. As a scotch drinker it was great to see how the whiskey was made. Andy our guide at Glen Ord was terrific and there is an opportunity to taste and buy some of their single malts

To much walking for handicap persns. - When my spouse started climbing stairs, there was no way to backtrack to exit. Whiskey tasting and distillery highly overrated. If you have ever seen any kind of distillery, this offered nothing new

My mistake - Was looking for shore excursion to Inverness from Invergorden cruise port. Thought this one would spend some time in Inverness. I was mistaken. We were only there for a little over an hour to have lunch. Town was interesting but no time to visit and explore. The tour took us to a whiskey factory which you could tour for an extra fee. About half the people spent the money and the rest of the people sat around for and hour and a half waiting. Tour also went to Cawdor Castle where you could visit for an additional fee. About half the people took the tour while the rest waited at a gift shop. The rest of the time was spent riding on the bus. The tour guide was fine. Tour was not what I was looking for, but that's on me not the tour guide or company. I should have done better research to find a tour to spend time in Inverness. If you are looking for whisky factory and castle tour, and are willing to pay additional fees, this is your tour. If you want to spend time in Inverness, probably not your tour.

Disappointed - First, we arrived where the guide was supposed to be.....6 or 7 guides were there but not ours. Then when he Finally arrived, we had a 6 block walk in the misty rain to get to the bus. Not a great start. I had tried to pay in advance for the Whiskey tasting and Castle but they don't accept Pay Pal and told me to call....what savings is that? After my husband (uses a cane) had the long walk, he refused to pay extra... The tour was ok but a lot of money, imo, for what we got...if the Castle and Whisky tasting had been included the price would have been good.

Good Tour for a large group - I purchased this tour, thinking we were getting a 16 passenger bus. We got a 50 passenger bus, full to the doors. The tour itself was as advertised with very brief stops a few times, prolonged by straggling passengers coming back late (this is why I wanted a smaller tour). We only had an hour in Inverness, which deserved so much more time. The tour guide was informative and knowledgeable. I just felt rushed everywhere we went.
