Additional Information

Disney’s The Lion King animators derived inspiration from Hell’s Gate National Park, a region spanning approximately 26 square miles (68.25 square kilometers). This park, named after a break in the red-hued cliffs shaped by a prehistoric lake’s fluid course, is the only one in East Africa where you have the freedom to leave your safari vehicle and explore on foot.
Unforgettable experiences include cycling across its vast plains and viewing the vibrant wildlife in their natural surroundings, or walking along the majestic gorge.
Furthermore, a boat ride on Lake Naivasha not only offers tranquil breezes for relaxation, but also a unique chance to observe thousands of hippos and various bird species.

Solo trip - Calvin and Dismus were really nice during all the journey, picking me up and bringing me back quite far away from Nairobi. I had an amazing time and felt very comfortable all the time.

Super affordable and hits the same attractions as other "all-in" tours. Highly recommend! - Our trip was pretty much exactly as described and expected! We basically just needed a driver and Calvin is quick while being super safe. The car was roomy with reclining back seats and some water bottles were provided. We stopped once at a touristy roadside stall but they weren't pushy or intrusive (like other stalls in Kenya can be). At Hell's Gate, we were handed off to a local community guide, Reagan. We really liked Reagan! Afterwards, Calvin drove to the Lake Naivasha Crecent Camp for lunch and the boat tour. I was skeptical of the tour due to the price but my wife really wanted to go and ultimately I found it enjoyable and worth it. Back in Nairobi, Calvin let us stop at a souvenir store (of our choice, it was near the hotel) which saved us the hassle of 2 more Uber trips. Tickets to both attractions are the customer's duty. Lake Naivasha is walk-up-and-pay (you actually save money paying in USD vs Shillings). Hell's Gate requires you purchase via the Kenya Wildlife Service website. They have strong wifi so it's easy to fill out the form but I suggest you create an account beforehand then apply for the park fee at the gate/ the day before your trip. Considering we really just needed a driver and their connections, I'm super pleased with this booking! Uber would have cost about the same but was the same service with much more convenience. I highly recommend it!

Recommended! - Highly recommend! Hell's Gate was an incredible experience. Our driver Calvin and guide Frank were very knowledgeable and accommodating. Everything was well organized. The cycling and hike were worth it. The lake was a bit overpriced, but you can see the hippos and birds.

Hell’s Gate and Lake Naivasha - A very nice day trip ( 9 hours) from Nairobi. Hell’s Gate is an extraordinary natural landscape where you can walk, cycle, or be driven through meadows full of zebras, giraffe, antelope, warthog (no predators!). Short walk to see the gorge. Afterwards a nice sit down lunch followed by a one hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha (hippos, lots of birds incl fish eagles—- looks like bald eagles). Past tea plantations on way home. Highly recommend for a day out. Calvin was a super guide- very knowledgeable, very accommodating and an excellent safe driver on the Great Rift Valley road!(great views)

Great Trip - Cycling through a national park in Kenya then a boat trip to Crescent Island, say no more. Wonderful. Such a high concentration of animals and birds all in one place. Hell's Gate 'Lion King' scenery is stunning.

Fantastic experience - This tour was fantastic! I loved cycling through the national park, it was an incredible, if tiring, experience. I saw so many animals and the park and lake were beautiful. I was also very happy with the service provided, everyone was so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this day tour to anyone visiting Nairobi.

Incredible Hike - Hell’s Gate was an incredible experience! The tour was very organized and the park guide was knowledgeable about the fascinating history behind the park. Be prepared for an intense bike ride of 16 kilometers, a moderate level of fitness is required, and bring cash. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that activities like rock climbing and the boat ride to see hippos were cash only. There is also a lovely Masai market in the park that is good for shopping, also cash only. The highlight was seeing zebras up close in the park while bike riding. The views were worth the hike. Seriously magical!

Nice trip - We enjoyed cycling in the area and saw animals like monkey, zebras, impalas, and others. The george was beautiful. Our driver Calvin picked us on tíme and drove us back with great patience. My daughter was unwell on the car because she had eaten some food that did not fit her stomach bu Calvin stopped as many times as she needed.
