We meet and begin kayaking in the small seaside town of Jenner. Truly memorable - This was a truly memorable kayaking experience. Worth every penny. Our guides Eric and Tim were knowledgeable, attentive, interesting, and funny. They took care of every participant no matter what the kayaker’s skill level. We saw amazing wildlife including hundreds of seals and sea lions. Our family of six ranged in age from 13 to 70 — each one of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Fascinating and fun! - Eric provided an excellent kayaking experience! He was informative about nature and sea life but also able to provide information about the area in general. His communication was excellent both before and after our trip. We had a group of ten, so Eric’s dad joined the trip -they are both a lot of fun! It’s also good to note that he emphasizes safety and takes his guests on a route that is easy to navigate. This would be fine for all ages and levels of experience.

Great way to beat the heat! - Our kyaking tour with Eric was great! He shared an amazing amount of knowledge about the area while keeping us on an easy paddling pace. The weather was perfectly cool, since we were looking for relief from a heat wave, and we were thrilled to see a bald eagle, harbor seals with their pups and numerous water birds. This is a must-do for anyone visiting the Sonoma County coastline.

Great paddling and quality guiding! - This was a really great kayaking tour of the Russian River! The paddling was smooth the whole way out and back and we had sunny weather inland, typical coastal fog near the beach. Erik is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. He shared so much about the area- everything from climates to history to wildlife. I'd really recommend this tour!

Guided Kayaking on the Russian River - Erik with Smart Tours is an amazing guide for kayaking in the Russian River. Rather than just renting kayaks and attempting to navigate on our own, it was wonderful having a guide like Erik share his knowledge of local habitat and history of the region. It made for a memorable experience for some young first time kayakers visiting from Southern California who will never forget their fun time on the Russian River.
