Later, we proceed to Herculaneum, where you will have another 2 hours. Named after the Roman mythological hero Hercules, Herculaneum was destroyed by the 79 AD eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. A leisurely walk through Ercolano will allow you to observe the remnants of civilization in this ancient town. Buried by the same eruption as Pompeii, it is now a remarkable historic site filled with abundant history and stunning views. Both cities offer spectacular ruins, relics, and fascinating markings left by those who did not survive the eruption.
