Additional Information

After being picked up from your hotel, you’ll head to Fiji’s adventure capital district, Pacific Harbor/Navua, to embark on a journey far removed from the stresses of modern life. Cruise along the Navua River, passing by villages, farmlands, untouched tropical rainforests, deep gorges and canyons, winding rapids, and numerous cascading waterfalls. Take a break for a refreshing swim at Navua River’s largest waterfall before enjoying a leisurely ride on the unsinkable “HMS BILIBILI” (a bamboo raft), a reenactment of the centuries-old traditional mode of river transport. A Fijian warrior will guide you to the village meeting house, where you’ll experience ancient customs and traditions, including a traditional welcome yaqona (kava) ceremony. This sacred ceremony is typically reserved for visiting high chiefs or very important guests. Discover the history of the village, founded by the lone Englishman John Humphrey Danford. Enjoy cultural dances performed by the village men and women, and savor a hearty Fijian buffet “Lovo” lunch.

A day in the life - The day was memorable from start to finish! Really enjoyed heading upriver to the water fall and then back down river in the bamboo raft! Followed by a kava ceremony, lunch and watching how things are traditionally done. Really important to get out of the resort and learn about local culture.

Can't miss this experience when in Fiji! - We really enjoyed the trip over from the Sonaisali area to the village as it took us past beautiful scenery and many other villages along the way. The ride on the river was a highlight and the weather was perfect and everyone we met along the way was just so kind and funny. The village visit was sublime-- the main fellow is very witty and quite the ham (in a good way!).

Perfect Day in Paradise - This day is so much fun, long boat up the Navua River with crystal clear river water. Short walk into cave and a refreshing swim under the waterfall. Back to Village by long boat and short trip on bamboo raft. Cultural part at Village and traditional Lovo lunch topped the day off. Well worth doing.

Trip on Navau River to the waterfall - Wow, what a great experience, picked up from Naviti Resort, travelled to Navau where we set out in long boats up the river. Passed over some rapids, which were fun, up to the waterfall. A short walk to the waterfall, swim then back in the boats. On the way back we were treated to a small ride on a bamboo raft, then back on the boats again. Went to the village where we were offered a traditional welcome, then lunch prepared by the villagers. The villagers gave us an informative time on extracting milk from coconuts, painting and weaving, where items can be purchased. Back on the bus to the hotel. The guides were extremely well informed, made the day most memorable, would recommend this tour very highly.

A must do experience! - Absolutely amazing! The river boat ride was so fun and the waterfall was so refreshing and beautiful! But the most memorable was the village tour with our amazing tour guide, Nem. He was so fun and bubbly and was so playful and patient with our energetic 3 year old. We are so grateful he was able to welcome us into his village and share his culture and stories. The wonderful villagers were also so kind and welcoming. They even sang and played “wheels on the bus” with their instruments for our boy, it was so heartwarming to see. The lunch they prepared was as also so delicious! Thank you again for beautiful experience we will all never forget.

Exciting - The waterfall was beautiful. The staff were very helpful. Lovely scenery. Just one thing: the "safety rails" were too flimsy on the path to the waterfall.
