Additional Information

After being picked up from your hotel, you’ll head to Fiji’s adventure capital district, Pacific Harbor/Navua, to embark on a journey far removed from the stresses of modern life. Cruise along the Navua River, passing by villages, farmlands, untouched tropical rainforests, deep gorges and canyons, winding rapids, and numerous cascading waterfalls. Take a break for a refreshing swim at Navua River’s largest waterfall before enjoying a leisurely ride on the unsinkable “HMS BILIBILI” (a bamboo raft), a reenactment of the centuries-old traditional mode of river transport. A Fijian warrior will guide you to the village meeting house, where you’ll experience ancient customs and traditions, including a traditional welcome yaqona (kava) ceremony. This sacred ceremony is typically reserved for visiting high chiefs or very important guests. Discover the history of the village, founded by the lone Englishman John Humphrey Danford. Enjoy cultural dances performed by the village men and women, and savor a hearty Fijian buffet “Lovo” lunch.

Excellent, comprehensive Fijian experience. - We enjoyed our trip to the south eastern side of the main island. Nem was an energetic, engaging and funny host, who was able to share plenty of local about his local village and area. The river boating up and down the rapids with a waterfall swim in between was a lot of fun. The cultural tour of the village was excellent too It's a long drive for those coming from Nadi, but well worth it if you can endure the 4ish hour bus trip each way.

Excellent - It was a long day, but an excellent day. If joining from Nadi, be aware that it's over 12 hours total but well worth it. The host in the village, Nem, was phenomenal. It was a nice journey by boat to the dropoff point and the man-made concrete walkway made the trek to the waterfall very easy. It was a nice swim, then a boat ride/ raft ride back to the village for lunch, entertainment, and education. Definitely a highlight of my time in Fiji.

Highly Recommend - This was by far the best adventure my wife and I had in Fiji. The boat ride up the river and the waterfall was incredible. The tour guide, boat captains, and everyone from the Fijian village were so nice and absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this tour and I would definitely do this again!

A Tailored Experience for our Small Group - Can't speak highly enough of the tour we've just completed. My daughter (30) and wife wanted, respectively, waterfalls and native village, experience. All boxes ticked with this well organised and typically friendly Fijian experience. Bonus points for the inclusion of our guide's son as an extra tour guide and diving expert. A few points to note; take cash for purchasing village wares and hire shoes for walking the river crossing. Waterproof shoes are a must for the walk to the falls.

Worth the trip - We really enjoyed the full day trip. The ride on the river was so much fun and we saw great nature around. The swim under the waterfall was amazing, water was pretty cold though. Our guide chatted with everyone and answered all our questions perfectly. The village visit seemed authentic. The highlight for us was the Kava ceremony and that we could try kava. The time on the bus was long though, but it was definitely worth the drive.

Incredible tour, absolutely worth the money - Swimming in the waterfall was so lovely, water was clear and refreshing. The boat trip along the river was a memorable experience, giving us a rare and valuable glimpse of Fiji's beautiful and rare interior, including mountains, waterfalls and wildlife. The lovo lunch was delicious, as was the hospitality of the villagers.

So much bang for your buck - Like all the other reviews mention, the long drive is really worth it. We were greeted by our bus driver in the morning, it was about a 2.5 hour drive from Nadi with one stop along the way to get some snacks and go to the restroom. Once we reached Navua we were greeted and taken onto our boats through the river up to the magical waterfall. Once we returned back to the village we met with the locals and had traditional local food which was absolutely divine. We then went on to doing other traditional ceremonies and stuff. The experience was 15/10 and definitely worth more than what we paid. Definitely a must do while youre in fiji
