Royal Botanical Gardens - The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya are Sri Lanka’s oldest formal gardens. It’s about 5 kilometers west of Kandy, in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, at 460 meters above sea level. Peradeniya’s majestic Avenue of Royal Palms is Sri Lanka’s largest garden, covering 147 acres (60 hectares) and requiring plenty of time to stroll. Peradeniya Gardens has almost 4,000 distinct plant species.
