Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous historical monuments. Residents call this ancient palace and fortress complex the eighth wonder of the world and it has significant archeology and attracts thousands of tourists annually. This is probably the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka.

Pidurangala Rock - In the afternoon, visit the nearby Pidurangala Rock for panoramic views of Sigiriya.

Pidurangala Rock is an incredible 360-degree viewpoint located opposite the world-famous Sigiriya Lion Rock. Hiking to the top is possible for both of these rocks, but hiking at dawn to the top of Pidurangala Rock is a real adventure. You get a good view of Lion’s Rock itself.

Dambulla and Kandy

Dambulla Cave Temple - Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, with its five sanctuaries, is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2,100 m2 ) are of particular importance, as are the 157 statues.

Royal Botanical Gardens - Royal Botanic Gardens or simply Peradeniya is one of the most beautiful gardens in Sri Lanka located near the city of Kandy. This garden is widely popular for its stunning collection of orchids. In the central province of the country, Royal Botanic Gardens sprawls across 147 acres at 460 meters above sea level.
