Another great visit - I come here every time I am in NYC. The museum never disappoints. It is a very accessible and innovative museum. A first time visitor should start on the ground floor with Timescapes, a great telling of the basic story of the city. Then follow it up with the two exhibits about New York at its Core. Two exhibits that can deceivingly time consuming are closing soon. You are here is a kaleidoscope of sound and imagery that can be watched again and again. The restoration project is probably their best interactive learning classroom yet. Getting to chat with Gary was a wonderful experience.

Excellent exhibition on New York’s beginning - An excellent exhibition about New Amsterdam's beginning, rename, cultural metamorphosis and the people who made this extraordinary city. EXACTLY what we were looking for. Beautifully laid out and very informative. So pleased to have gone

Very interesting - Very interesting visit. I love history and discovering the evolution of New York City thrilled me. There are many historical artefacts but also many interactive experiences done very well. I absolutely recommend it. Entrance is free, but they gladly accept donations.

Excellent little Museum. - Compact small museum, well worth the admission & not too big that it becomes daunting. Well worth a couple of hours of anyone’s time

The evolution of the Big Apple - This Museum is located at the bottom of 5th Avenue in front of Central Park, not crowded and with well-arranged works. This is the museum of the history of New York City with several rooms that offer a historical excursus on the evolution of the Big Apple. Permanent and temporary exhibitions make the museum interesting and rich in material including paintings and sculptures, costumes and fabrics, manuscripts, furniture and decorative arts, archive collections... It is a pleasure to visit thanks also to the logical sense of the routes. Online tickets cost $20, free for ages 20 and under. Otherwise, the "pay-what-you-wish" formula or donation is available on site. It must be seen

Good - We enjoyed the movie in the basement. We would suggest guests do that first then visit floor, 1, 2, 3 in that order. Originally, the ticket agent said to do the reverse.

Outstanding video displays - The video of the history of New York on the ground floor was fantastic and I would highly recommend. On the top floor there is also an incredible video room about NYC and film, also highly recommend this and watching it all the way through. The rest of the museum is ok with some exhibits being quite good with good interpretation, but others lacking in terms of coherence and clear interpretation. Not a big museum so easy to do in 2 hours or so.

Excellent History of New York Mueseum - Excellent History of New York Mueseum . We went here for the Uptown Bounce which was a free event with Grandmaster Caz on a Thursday. Our free ticket enabled us to look around the Museum before the event started at 6 pm. We really enjoyed looking around at the history of New York since the 1600s. I particularly liked the section they had on Hip Hop, the graffiti, breakdancing and the music. We very much enjoyed the free music event also.

Disappointing - I was not impressed by this museum. Timescapes, the video presentation of how the city has evolved, was the best bit. Very interesting. Really not much else to see. Even though it's technically free, you basically are obliged to pay $20 each. Not worth it, there are many better museums in the city.
