Very cool tour of the swamp! - This kayaking tour was fantastic. It was so cool to see a totally different aspect of Louisiana, and our guide, Josh, was excellent. He was very informative about the region and the wildlife. We would highly recommend this trip!

It’s a blast - It was just my partner and I, one other couple, and our guide, Al, on this trip and it was perfect! I know Al said the gators weren’t being as friendly as they normally are, but we still saw plenty little eyes watching us. We also chose this tour because we know the big boats are loud and spook them away, and we honestly just want the animals to be happy and healthy. Al knew just about everything about being out there - he named every fish, plant, bird, and bug we saw. He told us what plants were invasive, and which ones the Native American’s have been using for centuries. He pointed out a camouflaged owl hidden in a tree, and a huge osprey nest high up in the branches. He made sure we saw every gator we possibly could. He was a pleasure driving to and from the swamp with as well. The swamp itself is absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend described it as being on another planet. It was serene with bird calls and bug chirps all around you. Definitely bring a big hat for the sun, lots of water (especially if your tour’s in the middle of the day), and bug spray! Only thing I will say is I would not do this tour if you are not already fairly athletic. I’m pretty active and my arm’s were burning by the end of the trip. Still… highly recommend!!

Baby Alligators Are Adorable! - Terry was an awesome guide - nice relaxing kayak paddle - saw alligators, barred owls, turtles, egrets and similar swamp birds. Learned about the flora and fauna of the region along with a bit of history. Was thrilled that there were no mosquitoes. Much more open and sunny than I had imagined for a swamp. Bring camera, sunscreen, hat bottled water. Great experience!

Manchac Swamp Kayak tour - The small group swamp tour led by Terry was amazing! Our guide Terry was reticent at first on the drive to the put-in, but during the kayak tour he was a wealth of knowledge about the swamp and the flora and fauna. It was very hot with little shade, so make sure to bring a hat and cover up if you want to avoid repeated sunscreen application. I would highly recommend this tour!

Beautiful Tour! - Our tour with Josh was wonderful. He was very funny and knowledgeable about the swamp. We saw several alligators and many species of birds, including an owl! I have done several swamp tours over the years but have never seen one. The scenery was beautiful. The paddle was not too difficult but you will probably work up a thirst and an appetite after the tour. Josh had several recommendations about places to eat and things to do in NOLA. I highly recommend this tour.

1000% Recommend this Tour Group - When I say this was one of the best experiences of my life, I mean Top 3. This was fairly easy as a brand new kayaker annd was 100% a taste of nature. There was nothing glamorous about it! Our experience began at our meeting place with our tour guide (Josh) picking us up in the company van. He was funny and friendly and so full of knowledge, I found myself impressed the entire time. We made it to our docking point in the Manchac after about a 45 min commute. We made a pitstop at a gas station to use the facilities one final time as we were in the Louisiana bayou country with no plumbing in nature. We unloaded the kayaks and waited for our guide to give us a few rules, pointers and off we went. At no time did I feel worried about gators! We saw a few, we saw birds, but the big star of the show was the flora and fauna! Stunning!! We approached our turnaround point, sat and learned even more while floating in the bayou, and had the opportunity to take pictures. My husband and I chose to ride in single kayaks as our group size allowed it, though I would recommend using a double if you want to get lots of pics and videos. It’s hard to paddle, record and keep up! On our way out, we experienced some rain, which almost made the experience better (though not everyone in our group would agree) and safely made it back to our docking location. Please, as a tourist OR a local, please use this tour to experience the beautiful bayou and enjoy something different than in-city tours!
