How long you spend inside the museum is up to you! If you are hungry or simply want a break from exploring the exhibits, visit the on-site American Sector Restaurant + Bar and take a step back in time in BB’s Stage Door Canteen, a 1940s-style entertainment venue that showcases the music and performers of the war years. A Must See in New Orleans - I am 74 years old, from the USA and I learned so much from this museum that I didn't know and had never heard of in my life. I loved all of the displays of how the different countries tricked Germany during the war to bring the war to an end. I wish that all high school students in the United States would be taught history in this way. I believe they would understand our country better and would be more patriotic. Please visit this museum! This was a real treat for my family.

The National WWII Museum - The museum is large, so go early and expect to spend the day there. We paid extra for two films. One was about an hour, and the other was about 20 minutes. I recommend the hour film. The small film had some of the same information as the longer film. Do the film at the halfway point of the visit. This gives you time to relax after walking around for 3 - 4 hours.

Worth the Hype - We visited this museum while in New Orleans and it is worth the hype and EVERY penny. I do want to say that in order to experience everything this museum has to offer you need 2 days and they do offer a 2 day ticket. We did not do any add--ons and was there for 6 hours and did not get to see everything. I can say that I learned from this experience. There were details given in the exhibits that the history books and classes in school do not share or touch. SO much behind the scene information, it was incredible. There are many different forms of media and my 4 year old was kept entertained the entire time, no complaints and he didn't want to leave. The section with the video interviews of the concentration camp survivors is done very well and if you do not leave without tears in your eyes then you were not truly listening. We had lunch at the Soda Fountain and it was good for the money. There is an interaction piece where you are given a 'dog tag' to carry with you throughout the museum. This dog tag is linked to a person from the era and you follow their story throughout the war at kiosks in each section of the museum. Moving to follow and learn about a person linked to the war effort. A must if in New Orleans!

Great Education for Teens - Museum exhibits, narratives and video are excellent. My grandchildren were impressed, enjoyed the presentations and learned a lot about the events that set the stage for Hitler’s rise, the war itself and the atrocities of the Nazi’s. They have a better understanding of America’s effort and greatness.

Simply a national treasure - This museum is everything that it is cracked up to be. This was my third visit to the museum and it simply gets better each and every time. They finally completed the liberation exhibit and it gives a great insight into the trials and tribulations during World War II. you just can’t beat the display of airplanes, the realistic settings as you pass through the museum. You can look at the campaign in Berlin, campaign to Japan, and they’ve got a great naval exhibition as well. I will always make it a point to stop by this museum each and every time I come to New Orleans.

100% Awesome - The New Orleans WWII Museum is simply awesome, easily one of the best museums to visit in the world. Admission worth every cent, easily spend 4+ hours to give most of the exhibits attention, plenty of staff to assist, go and see you want be dissappointed

Great history of WW II and the "Greatest Generation" - Not much more to say about this outstanding museum that hasn't already been said, but it's definitely a "must see" if you are in New Orleans. You could easily spend more than a day here, but since most people only go for one day, I advise seeing the "Road to Tokyo" and "Road to Berlin" exhibits, plus the Liberation Pavilion if you have time. There is a 45-minute movie narrated by Tom Hanks that a lot of people (including myself) see (it costs extra), but honestly I could have skipped it; I didn't find it that interesting and would have preferred to use the time on other exhibits. Get there early and plan to spend the entire day if you can. Warning: Bring some food, water, and snacks, because the onsite restaurants usually have long wait lines (it was 45 minutes when I was there on a weekday.)

Ambrose had a great idea - Stephen Ambrose authored ten books that are found in the museum store at this museum. But that is just the beginning. His research on World War II included hundreds of interviews by survivors as well as documents, news clips and other mid-century information. A professor at University of New Orleans, he initiated the idea for a large and inclusive national museum in New Orleans to tell the story. He raised mine. He donated research. He made it all happen with the help of hundreds of supporters. He died of lung cancer shortly after it opened. He believed that fighting for liberty was heroic. Yeah!!!

A brilliant exposition of World War 11 from an American perspective - This feels very new (which it is relatively) and not altogether museum-like ( and that is a compliment). You enter via a train and are invited to follow an individual soldier's story. the train passes images that you see through carriage windows and you move with the motion of the train. Clever but not as clever or as moving as the train on the Schindler museum in Krakow. However it is innovative and creative and an absolute must to visit. There are so many elements to the centre you need to go on the website to explore them. Interesting it is a uniquely American experience of the war and for someone born just after the war (1948) it wasn't the British experience. But of course it wouldn't be would it!

Make time for this - We are a family of all adults. We enjoyed our day at this museum. This is an ALL day experience. We loved the train start. Perfect for setting the mood. The entire museum was a bit text heavy. We wish the map was labeled better for exhibits. I would have saved more time for some of the end exhibits.
