This particular Voodoo tour in New Orleans stands out as the only one led by High Priestesses of Louisiana Plantation Vodou. Eshé/Mary J. can trace her ancestry in Louisiana back to the late 1700s, while Malika/Osheyo Amanzi traces her lineage back to the coast of Virginia and the Carolinas, the homeland of the Gullah-Geechee who practice unique West African-based religions.

Deep and authentic experience! - This was such an amazing tour! We went deep into the history and truth about Voodoo and the deep and ancient origins of this spiritual practice. We also learned much about the history of New Orleans and the way voodoo was practiced in the beginning and all the way up to the modern day. It was authentic and beautiful, and one of the highlights of our visit to this magical place.

Authentic historical narrative of voodoo - Loved Eshé’s friendly and personalization of a more historical narrative of voodoo. Would have loved to potentially visit sites out of Louis Armstrong park that are still authentic or meanful to the history of voodoo in NOLA, but this didn’t distract from the wonderful tour!! A bonus Eshé was great about making the tour comfortable and answering questions.

Great tour! - Fabulous tour with a guide with both personal experience and historical knowledge - making for an interesting and expansive experience. I'm glad we took this tour on the first day of our trip so that we were able to tour NOLA with this tour in mind.

Magical and Authentic - Most of the draw to come to NOLA lies in it's historical and cinematic ties to Voodoo, especially for fans of AHS Coven. So naturally I went on a tour with my daughter led by the High Priestess Malika who actually practices plantation voodoo and has ancestral ties to the tradition, unlike many of the so called "neo voodoo shops" here that appropriate the practice. Malika's genuine and expansive wisdom, and love for Spirit, was deeply appreciated. She debunked many myths peddled by those phonies in the Quarter - and in Hollywood - and shared personal experiences that could only be informed by being a High Priestess herself. We loved her sense of humor too! If you have been wondering what's the REAL story behind the magic of Voodoo in the Crescent City, please consider booking a tour. You will not regret it :)

Knowledge great; scenery not so much - Our tour guide who was a Voodoo Priestess was very knowledgable about the history of Voodoo both here, in Africa and in Haiti, and while we enjoyed getting to know the culture better, I would have defined it more as a lecture than a tour. We spent the entire 2 hours in Louis Armstrong Park and didn't venture very far into the park at that. Would have preferred to walk to some other pertinent sights in the quarter or even in the Treme neighborhood.
