Most Voodoo tours in the city are conducted by individuals either without initiation or lacking ancestral ties to justify their knowledge and devotion to the faith. This particular Voodoo tour in New Orleans stands out as the only one led by High Priestesses of Louisiana Plantation Vodou. Eshé/Mary J. can trace her ancestry in Louisiana back to the late 1700s, while Malika/Osheyo Amanzi traces her lineage back to the coast of Virginia and the Carolinas, the homeland of the Gullah-Geechee who practice unique West African-based religions.

Incredible and Insightful Tour in Congo Square - Eshé was a fantastic guide through Congo square! We were honored to have her share her knowledge regarding the history of the area and help us better understand the practice of Vodou. If you’re wanting to know more about the actual history/practice/culture of the area and Vodou, I would highly recommend this tour. Esheé was also very conscientious of the hot weather, frequently checking in to make sure we were okay and offering places to sit in the shade. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Deep and authentic experience! - This was such an amazing tour! We went deep into the history and truth about Voodoo and the deep and ancient origins of this spiritual practice. We also learned much about the history of New Orleans and the way voodoo was practiced in the beginning and all the way up to the modern day. It was authentic and beautiful, and one of the highlights of our visit to this magical place.

Knowledge great; scenery not so much - Our tour guide who was a Voodoo Priestess was very knowledgable about the history of Voodoo both here, in Africa and in Haiti, and while we enjoyed getting to know the culture better, I would have defined it more as a lecture than a tour. We spent the entire 2 hours in Louis Armstrong Park and didn't venture very far into the park at that. Would have preferred to walk to some other pertinent sights in the quarter or even in the Treme neighborhood.
