Beyond Expectations - Always wanted to visit this museum with my kids, ages 14, 11, and 8. Of course the Hayden planetarium was our favorite especially the Beyond Worlds show. I also loved the geological displays.

American Museum of Natural History - Absolutely a must visit especially when you are in New York with kids. We booked the tickets in advance as the time slots were introduced. It is the largest natural history museum in the world, spans 4 city blocks and consists of around 25 interconnected buildings. It accommodates 45 permanent exhibition halls, a planetarium and a library. It is located next to the Central Park. Depend on what you want to see you have to calculate at least 3 hours for seeing parts of the museum. And do not forget, the famous series ''Friends'' was shot here, as Ross and if I am not mistaken Joey worked here.

Very great experience for big and small - We really enjoyed the day at the AMNH. Have taken everything with them special exhibitions (attention! Be sure to book the planetarium in advance) and they were really great (the butterflies not so unique yet cute, but the planetarium and elephants were incredibly great, the Invisible Worlds can also keep up well and the movie about the turtles 🐢 is totally cute. But the permanent exhibitions are also really nice, all interactive stations worked perfectly (we are very often in museums and this is the first time I think everything really works), at every corner are employees who can help without ifs and but and are well informed, the food in the foodcourt is delicious but quite expensive. My son (8) really enjoyed the insects (beehive), the photography exhibition, the stones (volcanoes/deep sea), minerals and meteorites but also the dinosaurs, the whales, the animals overall very great. Of course we didn't manage everything, we were there from 12 to the end (17.30). The museum is super conveniently located, with Metro B you arrive so that you can directly from the train in the museum and back we walked through Central Park, which was sooo great. Really happy again!

A must have! - Known through films, this unique and mythical place lives up to its reputation. Beautiful staging of the wildlife existing on the planet. The planetarium is also to be made

Sensational - It's really amazing. Very well structured museum and with many attractions. I went with family, with 2 children (8 and 10 years old). They were very interested, both in the parts with animals from all over the world (packed), and in the others about mining experience and about the creation of the land (big bang). All guides indicated that 4 hours in the museum would be enough for the visit. But we stayed for six hours or more... we only left when the museum closed... I highly recommend.

Nice Natural History Museum in NYC - Nice museum. Lots to see. Plenty of choices to have a snack or meal too. Plenty bathrooms. Order tix in advance. We went on a Friday July morning and it was busy but not overly crowded. Only recommendation would be better signage within museum and on maps.

Museum is great, but don’t buy tickets in advance through TripAdvisor! - The museum is great. My experience with buying my tickets in advance with TripAdvisor was a joke. All they do is give you a voucher that still requires you to wait in the same long Saturday line as all the other people buying their tickets! So there is absolutely no benefit to going through the hassle of buying your ticket in advance with TripAdvisor. I’ll never do it again. Don’t waste your time.

The museum of natural history in New York City - The butterfly vivarium and the dinosaur exhibit. The museum needs more signs telling you where the exhibits are and we did not receive a paper map at the entrance which would have been very helpful.

Average visit - Everything was great except the gift shop. At the gift shop it was a ripoff. 1 sticker was $5, the necklaces were $15 and the rest was 10 to 20 dollars. If you had only $5 like me then you couldn't buy anything except a sticker, nothing else.
