Additional Information

Escape the hustle and bustle of New York City…right in the heart of Manhattan! Explore Central Park with a local expert who will share the tales, historical landmarks, and natural splendor hidden in this metropolitan oasis.

Your tour guide will enlighten you with the park’s history as a bustling village of African Americans and immigrants, and their subsequent removal during the development of the landscape we now see. Although traces of this village have disappeared, we’ll visit other historical edifices such as the stunning Bethesda Terrace and the Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument.

Our jaunt through Central Park will take us by renowned pieces of art including notable literary busts beneath the majestic trees of The Mall, and the mosaic-clad Strawberry Fields circle, a homage to singer-activist John Lennon.

As we marvel at various plant and animal species surrounding The Lake and its photogenic Bow Bridge, you’ll conclude the tour content in the knowledge that your ticket has played a crucial role in conservation education!

A worthwhile tour! - Jessie gave an incredible tour of Central Park! She is a wealth of knowledge and shares it with the group in a way that is fun and entertaining and informative. This is the second tour I have gone on led by Jessie Fahey and I will certainly go on other ones with her. She comes highly recommended!

Not Your Usual Tour - Most tours are rather passive. You stand, you listen, you learn something, and then rinse and repeat. Jessie’s tour was different. It was interactive. She encouraged us to ask questions, to look at our environment, and really focus on the experience. And I learned a lot too. I’ve lived in NYC for (mumble mumble) years and she told me facts and stories about Central Park that I never knew before. The stories about the benches (the original ones), and the pricey public proposal (benches again), plus the original uses for familiar park buildings such as the Dairy and the Chess/Checkers building were entirely new to me. And I had no idea the Boathouse Lake was modeled after the Panama Canal (or that the canal looked like that).

A+ tour and guide - Our guide Jessie Fahay did a fabulous job showing us the park. I'm a lifelong New Yorker who has been in Central Park many times but I learned things I never knew and went to areas I've never been. I highly recommend the tour and Jessie as guide.

Can you say "perfect?" - There are tours, and there are tours, and then there is Jessie Fahay's tour of NYC's Central Park. Native New Yorkers all, our group learned a lot, laughed even more, and Jessie gave us stories and information about our fair city that none of us knew before embarking on the walk. When you have a bunch of New Yorkers oohing and aahing together, you know something is better than great. All of us are getting ready to pick our next tour. For me, it's Broadway, but I'd do this one all over again in a heartbeat.
