  • Eataly - Enjoy delicious Roman style pizza at epic artisanal Italian food emporium, Eataly. Then follow your tour guide to learn about the secrets of the building and experience a guided tour of Italy. Please note: on Sunday’s we get the breakfast focaccia at Eataly because we go to Obica Mozzarella Bar for pizza instead of Beecher’s (they are closed on Sundays now).
  • Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish - Enjoy a modern twist on a classic New York Reuben at Zucker’s Bagels.
  • Flatiron Building - Learn about the building’s unique architecture. Be sure to have the tour guide take your photo in front of it! We do not tour the inside of the building.
  • Madison Square Park - Did you know that in 1876, the Statue of Liberty’s right arm and torch was put on display here for 6 years in an effort to raise funding to complete the statue’s construction? This park has played a pivotal role in much of NYC’s history!
  • Union Square - Your tour guide will explain the historical significance of this important park. You will also get to experience the popular Greenmarket (except Thursdays & Sundays), street vendors, protestors, break dancers, Krishna followers chanting and city dwellers enjoying lunch or a stroll through the park. Union Square is certainly a microcosm of NYC.
  • Breads Bakery - Step inside this heavenly, local favorite bakery as we sample various baked goods. What a way to end a fabulous food tour!
  • Honeybrains - Honeybrains really puts “brain food” to the test! Their menu is formulated with neuroscience in mind, so you can feel good about every bite!

Great food and interesting tour - Justin did a terrific job weaving the interesting history of the area with some delicious food. There was more than enough to eat, and we got to take some home too. Highly recommend especially if you want to explore a somewhat less touristy area.

Great walking tour - Being a local, I didn’t expect to learn much and would have been happy with the delicious food. Happy to be proven wrong! Lots of interesting NY history. Highly recommend!

Great tour -- food, stops, walking - Great tour! Justin was on time, at the stated place and easy to spot. On a cold, slightly rainy day, it was a good mix of inside/outside, walking to be warm and stopping to hear the stories. Historical photos on his tablet worked well to show what the areas looked like before. Justin clearly enjoys history. The stops were a good mix of traditional NYC food and new items on the food scene. We had a few chances to sit down, and every stop had a clean restroom.

Bagels, bakes and Barbie - The tour was great fun. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and keen to share his local insights on the history of the area and the best places to eat. The tour was a nice balance of walking and eating, which was particularly welcome given the less than clement weather. I got try delicious food from places I wouldn’t have found on my own as well as visiting the place Barbie was invented and where Buddy the Elf ate discarded gum - a perfect trip!

Amazing experience - We decided to take this tour on a whim, and we are both so glad we did. The history and architecture information was interesting and informative, and the food was varied, delicious and included local restaurants we wouldn't have tried otherwise, but will definitely return to on our next visit. It was a great experience and a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Worse Guided Tour Operator - We booked the tour a week in advance. They of course fully charged us for the tour. Late the night before they decided to cancel the tour has they have not reached the min number if participants. What a cheap way to behave! First time that it happens to us. When making a booking with ‘Like a local tour’ bear in mind that it may or may not take place you are committed yo pay and attend. They can cancel the activity with a very shirt notice without taking any responsibility or even reply on time. I will not recommend to book with them. There are so many other and better options.
