Highlights
  • Nha Trang Beach - Your driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel at 9.00 am to start the Nha Trang Countryside Tour.\n\nIt takes us a short drive through the city to the countryside. You will experience the rural life of the local people.\n\nOur first stop is the Pagoda-Orphanage; This site shelters and cares for over 120 abandoned, orphaned or street children. They range from several months to 9 years of age. The children of the orphanage are taken care by a group of Buddhist nuns and volunteers. Their goal is to provide the children with a safe and caring environment which reduces their misfortune and gives their lives greater purpose and meaning. Being a private organization, the orphanage is trying to provide its children with food, shelter, health and education. The nuns at the orphanage have devoted their lives for the wonderful mission of helping needy the orphans.\n\nWe will continue our Nha Trang Countryside Tour to visit a Rice Paper Making factory;\n\nOne of the most popular foods in VN is made from rice steamed and processed into round pieces, dried in the sun on bamboo brackets, then offered for sale in the inns and shops locally, and commonly used to wrap the famous Vietnamese rice-paper rolls and Vietnamese spring rolls.\n\nNext, we will visit the place where they make the Non la (palm-leaf conical hat) which is a traditional symbol of Vietnamese people without age, gender or racial distinctions.\n\nLike many other traditional costumes of Vietnam, Non la has its own origin, coming from a legend related to the history of rice growing in Vietnam. The story is about a giant woman from the sky who has protected humankind from a deluge of rain. She wore a hat made of four round shaped leaves to guard against all the rain. After the Goddess had gone, Vietnamese people built a temple to commemorate her as the Rain-shielding Goddess.\n\nVietnamese people tried to make a hat modeling after the Goddess’ by stitching together palm leaves, which is now known as Non la. The image of Non la has become strongly associated with peasant lives from the paddy fields to boat men and women.\n\nNon la can serve numerous uses such as shade from the sun, a basket for women going to market, a fan of a ploughman in hot summer days, or even a keepsake to remember. The image of a young lady wearing Non la and Ao Dai is a beautiful symbol of Vietnam; Non la is also an object which, as part of the national spirit, closely links Vietnamese people, so many travellers enjoy taking a Non la as a special souvenir from Vietnam.\n\nIntricate manual work by women is accomplished here, and it would also be a great gift for your friends when you get home.\n\nThe following destination of our Nha Trang Countryside Tour is a Rush mat weaving family business;\n\nHow different our bed mats are from what you sleep on back home! View the material and weaving process. This mat is popular with most people in tropical weather.\n\nTwo people working together will weave just four mats in a day, which will be taken to the local market and traded for food and other essentials.\n\nTourists can try their hand at a little weaving themselves. A small mat is your present, as well.\n\nWe then carry on our Nha Trang Countryside Tour to visit the Char-coal stove making village;\n\nConsidered as kitchen God to all Vietnamese, there is one stove in every family although gas cookers are widely used nowadays. You will learn the legend of kitchen God as related by local craftmen. You can experience the fire culture in Vietnam.\n\nThe last destination of our Nha Trang Countryside Tour is the Ancient house;\n\nBuilt almost 200 years ago, all Vietnamese houses are built in this style, the layout is for 3 apartments in the 2 wings in which the middle one to worship ancestors with full- decoration of the altar. On either side are bedrooms. The architecture is very typical of 36 pillars and roofing of zin and zen tiles, A courtyard is at the front for bonsai and plants situated in an exuberant orchard setting.\n\nFive generations of a Vietnamese family have continued to reside to live in this house.\n\nYou can experience the setting and make acquaintance with local people to see many things like coffee processing, cashew nut peeling. Visit the Village communal house. Your delicious lunch will be served to you at riverside restaurant with amazing panorama.\n\nThe Nha Trang Countryside Tour will end about 4.00 pm. We will take you back and drop you off at your hotel.

Great experience in rural Nha Trang - My husband and I enjoyed this tour very much. Our guide Dat is an experienced, local guide and he was able to share information about Vietnamese culture and way of life. We visited local businesses in the home, as well as the orphanage visit which was moving. All visits were very interesting, however our favourite was the walk through of the local market and visiting the conical hat making location. We had a better appreciation of the work that goes in to a hand-made conical hat.

The best day! - We had the best day. It was incredible to leave the city and see how the locals live in the countryside. The day was well planned, informative and our guide, Tung, was fantastic. The whole family, including 3 teenage boys can’t stop talking about it. Highly recommend.

Loved it and be prepared for a small car and they will help get u out - U see the orphan first and if u are hoping for more Interaction with the kids u don’t get it. The time we got their class was on and u just walk around and wave to kids and say hi and also the place is in the city not the countryside. Love the noodles making family and the other family business of the hats and mats. Lunch was great too

How Vietnamese people live. - I would give this tour a 10 star if I could. First off the tour guide Huy really loves his job and his people. We have had some really good guides while in SE Asia but none like Huy. We traveled into the countryside to see how the people there live and work. First stop was a home where a lady and her daughter hand make the conical hats that ubiquitous to this part of the world. These are sold in the local markets, but the ones you see in souvenir stalls at the in town markets and the airport with all the pretty flowers on them are made in china. These are the real deal and working folks buy them . Next was another home/cottage industry that makes rice paper. You know the stuff that wraps your Vietnamese spring rolls. Again all by hand over a hot oven that is feed by rice hules. A true craft that has been handed down in the family. After a water brake, to another home where two sisters make grass matts. Beach matts. Placemats. Sleeping matts, and most with beautiful colors from natural dyes. These are not souvenir stops where people try to pressure you into buying trinkets made in another country, but an opportunity to see local crafts people making products that other local people use daily. Then a stop at a local market (not a souvenir stall in sight) for some fresh coconut water and a sample of fruit. Yum. Next up was the orphanage to visit with the kids and have another snack, of fresh baguettes and some soup. What the kids eat for lunch. Very tasty. Again. No doe eyed children standing there with a cup expecting you to droop a few dong in it. Just an example of good people doing good work and caring for children. It was a very happy place. Last but not least lunch! This was worth the price of th tour itself. Went to a cooking school and ate a meal that was fit for a king. Delicious. Beef, Fish. veggies and rice with water of beer to go along. What a wonderful day with Huy and his expert driver. Can't recommend this tour enough. You wont be dissapointed.

Nha Trang Up Close and Personal - The tour was well planned and perfectly executed. Vo Nguyen Huy was an exceptional guide. He has a deep knowledge of the area and is personally acquainted with the owners of the small businesses we visited. He is also very personable and a joy to spend the day with. his English speaking skills are excellent. The Orphanage visit was very special and heart heart warming.. Huy volunteers there with his son and obviously has a special relationship with the children. The tour created special lifetime memories for me. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

AMAZING COUNTRYSIDE TOUR!!! - Our tour guide Huy was the most informative, genuine and entertaining tour guide we've ever had. He took us to different locations in the countryside where we got to see a local market, religious temples, an orphanage, one of the oldest Vietnamese houses, locals making traditional crafts and foods and much more. The lunch was authentically Vietnamese and very delicious. Huy also shared his first-hand experience as someone living in the country side and opened our eyes to the real, everyday life of people in Vietnam. The private tour enabled us to ask so many questions and Huy put his heart and soul into ensuring that we had an informative, personalised and enjoyable experience. By the end of the tour we felt like Huy was a good friend. We would give 10 stars if we could. We couldn't recommend this tour more!!

A wonderful inland tour - Today we did a tour with Hoy as our guide. He was informative and spoke English well. This tour gave us what we were looking for - an inland tour. We saw parts of Nha Trang that were authentic and interesting. We went to a Temple, then on to see rush mat makers to the rice paper makers, to name a few. It was an enjoyable experience.

Truly Authentic Nha Trang Tour - This tour was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Dat is a true local and was an excellent tour guide. An authentic and genuine experience of getting a glimpse into the lives of the locals. The Buddhist orphanage/school was just beautiful. The children were so happy and made our day with their laughs and excitement. The rice paper making, conical hat making and noodle making were super authentic. Amazing. The old traditional ways carried on through generations. We also saw a gorgeous traditional home and stopped at a rice field for an explanation of rice farming by Dat. We then stopped at a local cafe for a delicious kumquat tea. Lastly, we had lunch and the BBQ ribs were the best I think I've ever tasted. A great day!! Not too long and truly authentic. Dat is very knowledgeable, speaks great English and was extremely informative about all things Vietnamese. So glad we chose this tour!
