Additional Information

Situated in Ninh Binh province, roughly 100 kilometers to the southeast of Hanoi, the stunning locales of Hoa Lu and Tam Coc stand out as two of the most scenic areas in northern Vietnam. Hoa Lu once served as the nation’s capital for a period of 41 years, between 968 and 1009 AD. Not far from there is Tam Coc, frequently dubbed as the “Ha Long Bay on land.” Travelers are gently ferried in small rowboats along the tranquil waters of Tam Coc River, gliding through verdant agricultural fields and along the base of towering karsts, entering cave openings to discover hidden marvels, including the sparkling stalactites and stalagmites that seem like precious stones at water level.

wonderful journey - Our tour guide is Chung, a very serious and optimistic tour guide. Before visiting the scenic spots, he will first gather everyone in the shade to explain the history and background so that we can understand it quickly. The historical explanation is very detailed. In addition, she is also very flexible, because the group members can visit other attractions before they are hungry, and then have lunch, so they can avoid the crowds. Thank you very much Chung for giving me a wonderful day

Ninh Binh highlights day tour - A fun day out with a great group of guests and our guide (Duke). We spent enough time at each stop to enjoy and take pictures, whilst our guide gave us enough information about the history of that spot. Booking online was easy and I recieved a response via whatsapp confirming the booking and pick up time even though it was already 8pm when I decided to join the tour the night before. Recommended tour if you only have a couple of nights in Ninh Binh.

Great way to see key sights - We did the highlights tour visiting Mua Cave, bich dong pagoda Hoa Lu and Trang An boat tour All were great to see and everything went very smoothly Only issue was 13 people cramped into the minibus so driving between sites was not so comfortable but ten journey isn’t too long Also free water was provided throughout the day

Disappointing, locations missed, rushed day - We did not go to Hoa Lu Ancient Capital at all which I really wanted to see 😞 This was on the itinerary. No reason or explanation given by Kevin for why we didn’t go. Trang An was a disaster and not well organised. We queued to get a boat at Trang An for about an hour. We had three groups in our tour. Two groups got boats at a similar time so they got to do the intended route. Our group waited another 20 minutes for a boat, and Kevin said you can’t do the intended route now, there is no time. This was disappointing to hear as it is not my groups fault we did not get a boat. It was 3pm so we could’ve done longer tour before it got dark. Kevin said we needed to do shorter route to get back in time. This was not fair as we felt we were punished for not getting a boat. If we were not with the tour, we would’ve done the longer route as it gets dark at 6pm. It was not fair as everyone on tour paid same price but our group did not get the same boat tour. Our group finished boat ride first and had to wait 20 minutes for the other groups to come back. This made us angry. We got shorter boat ride and we had to wait. The whole day was not well organised and it was sad that the tour was advertised as something different to what could delivered on the day. I understand it was during TET. however , as a tour provider if you feel the tour will have to operate differently, activities may not go as planned due to the amount of people, then I feel you should tell people booking the tour, or offer a discount of the tour during TET as you know the activities may not go as planned. If you know Trang An will be busy why not take us earlier in the day or a different time. These would be my recommendations to you in future if you run this tour during TET. I went to the ancient city the next day by myself and paid 400,000 VND and 20,000 VND entry the next day. Kevin tried hard and was very friendly and happy. I do understand the circumstances were out of his control. However I feel it could’ve been managed better as we got a different ride to the others. If I would have known it would’ve operated differently because of TET I would not have booked. Trang An Grottoes was also very hectic during TET and jog enjoyable waiting for a boat. We almost got pushed in the river by the locals who were forcing their way to the front to get a boat. It was very uncomfortable and stressful. Overall I can forgive the experience at Trang An but not going to the Ancient Capital was what has infuriated me the most.
