Additional Information

This is the best 60 minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you can find in Skipton.

Your guide for the canal tour is award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a recorded whistle-stop tour of Skipton and shares canal history that’s refreshingly different from your average commentary.

Above the jokes and laughter, you hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool Canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial-revolution through Yorkshire. There’s food and drink on board, too, so it’s a fun twist on your lunchtime break.

Our lively canal trip proves you don’t have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time.

Educational - We had a thoroughly good time. The information we received was very useful. The staff were very helpful as my mum and I have mobility problems.

Great service - Very pleased with how great the staff work as a team I went with a group of mates and it was very busy but out of the whole team I was very impressed with the chef Kieran who came out of the kitchen to run our food while the staff was busy with other duties so a very big thank you to Kieran you went above and beyond expectations

A relaxing and amusing hour - A relaxing way to spend an hour, but allowing for getting on, turning the boat halfway and getting off you are not going to go far but that's not the point. You get an insight into canal cruising and a sneaky peep at some lovely properties along the way. There's an informative and amusing commentary but there are bits of music dropped in where just boat noises would do but hey ho, it's only an hour!

Definitely worth a trip...especially when it's sunny - I had a canal boat ride when I was in primary school in Skipton...and now revisited as middle aged. Didn't fail to bring back memories. It was a pleasant trip...and service was good in the office as it was on board the boat (think northern hospitality). The on board narration was interesting but it would have been nice to have some silent time just to enjoy the ride. Also not sure why dogs are allowed on board...sure most people like them...and I do too but not if you have an allergy to them. Love that there's free parking on site. Overall, it was a nice trip and I would recommend!

Smells like an open sewer - Wanted to go on a boat trip the place was extremely busy mostly drinkers from the pub . The boat men were unfriendly and unhelpful . One man maneuvering his boat drove into a family of swans separating the young from the adults . He couldn't care less about the wildlife also using the canal . The streets around that area smell dreadful the place looks dirty . Not a pleasant experience as far as I'm concerned
