Whispering Wall - Built between 1899 and 1903 the Whispering Wall is part of the dam wall located in the Barossa Reservoir Reserve and is known for its unique acoustic effects. Words whispered at one side can be clearly heard at the other, more than 100 metres away.
Barossa Reservoir Reserve is a popular tourist destination north of Adelaide, and just an hour’s drive from the city centre. The reservoir is close to Williamstown and Gawler, just south of the Barossa Valley, making it a great day trip from Adelaide. Pack a picnic and think of a secret to whisper!
- Melba’s Chocolate & Confectionery - Melba’s Chocolate Factory is a ‘working’ tourism factory located in a heritage listed complex 40 minutes from Adelaide at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills.
From 1919 the South Australian Farmers’ Cooperative Union made the site famous by producing cheese, butter, margarine and small goods, which were recognised worldwide. This activity ceased in 1976. From 1991, with 1940’s era chocolate and confectionery making equipment, the current owners began their dream making old Australian favourite chocolate and confectionery.
Visitors today find the old cheese factory transformed into a large emporium-style confectionery factory shop. This is a centrepiece for five different rooms, where various manufacturing processes can be viewed. These are the Chocolate Room, Depositing Room, Packing Room, Panning Room and Toffee Room.

Woodside Cheese Wrights - Missing your cheese fix?
Welcome to our “ready to go” cheese bags. We understand that our cheese lovers see cheese as an essential food so we’ve put together a range of cheeses in our signature cooler bags which you get to keep. Orders that are placed before 12pm will be ready for pick up from midday the next day.
Woodside Cheese Wrights have produced a range of high quality and award-winning cheeses at their Adelaide Hills facility since 1994. Their sophisticated range of cow and goat milk cheeses are made by directly sourcing milk from small local dairies, providing them with excellent control of milk quality.
Woodside Cheese Wrights are true to the word artisan, crafting all of their cheeses by hand. Some of their cheeses are seasonal and are only made when the milk is perfect for each cheese style.
