Luis the best tour guide! - We had a tour from Luis, who was fantastic. He took us around the city, predominantly the old town. He showed us important monuments, historical churches and buildings. He explained everything in perfect English while also providing local recommendations for lunch and dinner. We ended up using these recommendations which we would not have seen online. (La Popular is great).

Good place to learn about Oaxaca. - I’ve been to Oaxaca and am interested to learn more. This tour did that. I learned a lot and found out about some hidden gems in the city. I highly recommend this tour especially if you are new to the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly and very accommodating. It’s not a long tour, but a good place to start. Highly recommend.

Great overview of Oaxaca - Luis was a superb guide and the route took in key sites in the center of the city. He also made some thoughtful recommendations of other places to visit later which I added to my map (and we're great!). He was very clear and obviously has a great love for his city. I appreciated the historical and cultural context he gave for the sights we were seeing. This is a fantastic introduction to the city, like others have said it is well worth doing at the start so you have some places noted (and food to try!!) during your stay. Enjoy!

Superb cultural walk through Oaxaca - We had a fascinating walk through Oaxaca, at a good pace, wide ranging and interesting commentary. Gave us a great insight into the local culture, exactly what was required on our first visit to the town.

Knowledgable and great way to experience the city - Our guide was knowledgeable about the history and culture of Oaxaca. We did a circle around the northern part of Oaxaca and it was a nice introduction so that we can now explore and choose the additional places to visit

Excellent Experience in City of Oaxaca - Luis was excellent. We learned a lot about Oaxaca’s history. He was very considerate and flexible given that we had previously seen some of the sites. He arranged a parade in our honor. He was tons of fun!

Could have been a great experience... had the guide not left us mid tour! - Nice itinerary (starts at the Zocalo, then the Cathedral, we were lucky to see the Calendas, which is a local parade, then went to two lovely art galleries, I had the traditional Tejate chocolate drink ), and we were really enjoying ourselves... ...until 2/3 into the tour, after taking a phone call, Luis said he was ending the tour "as I have lots to say and you are not interested" - WHAT?! (note: he had tried to change the time of the tour the day before to 8:30 AM, but we where not able to, so it was only me and my friend on the 4 PM tour). So I have to agree with some other reviewers that said that Luis, who is quite young, is still learning the business (he had no tour guide badge, at least not during our tour) and how to interact with guests. We were quite disappointed but I'm giving the experience two stars as: 1) he promptly refunded our tickets when we asked and 2) we did have fun and see wonderful things in Oaxaca while we were with him Note: I almost gave Luis three stars for the reasons above, but I subtracted a star since he contacted me via SMS to ask for one star (just that, no apology for cutting our tour short) - nice try but no, as everyone knows that the one star reviews are usually seen as spiteful ;)
