Highlights
  • Oaxaca - Welcome to Oaxaca!
We offer private tours in comfortable and clean vehicles just for you. Tailor your excursion to your preferences, spend as much time as you like at each stop, and engage with artisans and native families for intimate experiences. Avoid the typical tours that only take you to roadside stops with limited time!
Here is a list of places we can visit. Start customizing your tour now!
  • Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban - Enjoy a guided tour of Oaxaca’s most significant archaeological site. Explore the best spots, learn about the culture and lifestyle of our ancestors, and take your time to walk around this UNESCO site and capture beautiful photos.
  • Hierve el Agua - One of only two petrified waterfalls in the world, located in Pamukkale, Turkey, and Oaxaca, Mexico! Hike with a native guide to see the petrification formed over the years. This town follows traditional rights, so local guides are required, and they work for volunteer tips. We recommend visiting early in the morning to enjoy the stunning views, take amazing pictures, and relax in the natural pools without crowds. Group tours usually arrive by 11:00 am.
  • Zona Arqueologica de Mitla - After Monte Alban was abandoned, Mitla became the most important city in Oaxaca’s Central Valley due to its economic, political, and military power. Take a guided tour through its beautiful architecture and intricate wall decorations. Mitla was designed to withstand earthquakes.
  • San Martin Tilcajete - Visit a family workshop led by natives to experience Oaxacan art. These colorful and fantastical wooden animals hold mysticism. Witness the entire process from carving to painting with beautiful Zapotec symbols. Discover your protector or spiritual animal!
  • Tule Tree - See the world’s widest and one of the oldest trees, located in the charming and clean town of Tule with a beautiful garden.
  • Teotitlan del Valle - Visit a small cooperative of native weavers making wool rugs. Enjoy a demonstration of natural dyes by a Zapotec family. Many workshops here do not use natural dyes, so it’s important to preserve the culture, tradition, and environment. Learn about the lifestyle and worldview of indigenous families.
  • San Bartolo - Experience the creation of decorative black pottery. See how artisans use pre-Hispanic lathes to make classic, modern, and master pieces. All decorations and shine are done by hand! The artisans are proud of their work, so feel free to ask questions and take photos.
  • Cuevas Prehistoricas de Mitla - Discover the site where the first corn seeds in the Americas were found. Hike a mountain to visit a complex of five pre-Hispanic caves with red, white, and black petroglyphs depicting hands, hunting scenes, stars, the sun, spirals, corncobs, and more. Follow community rules and explore with a native guide. A lot of history!
  • Teotitlan del Valle - BEEWAX CANDLES
An almost forgotten tradition in this town. These organic candles were made for special celebrations like weddings, town festivals, and Catholic masses. They are still made artisanally using beeswax for decorative candles shaped like flowers, cacti, sculptures, and more.
  • Mercado Tlacolula - Market day is a long-standing tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to buy groceries or sell local products like fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a glimpse into the real life of a town. We especially recommend trying the meat hall and goat or sheep barbacoa. ONLY ON SUNDAYS.
  • Santo Tomás Jalieza - A small village with an old tradition. Visit a group of women working with backstrap looms in their patios. Unlike other textiles, these are more utilitarian, making table runners, purses, placemats, coasters, shoulder bags, bracelets, belts, and straps for guitars, sunglasses, or cameras.
  • Ocotlan de Morelos - Market day is a long-standing tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to buy groceries or sell local products like fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a glimpse into the real life of a town. We especially recommend trying traditional moles at a market stand. ONLY ON FRIDAYS.
  • Santa Catarina Minas - A very small town using ancestral mezcal processes with clay pots for distillation, giving the mezcal a unique and authentic taste. Mezcal tasting not included.
  • Santiago Matatlan - As the saying goes, “Mezcal doesn’t get you drunk, it makes you magical.” The best way to experience it is by visiting a distillery, learning about the process, different types of agave plants, and most importantly, tasting them all! Discover large agave fields and traditional distilleries on the east side of Oaxaca city.

Great all day private tour with Felix - My wife and I had a day long tour with Felix to Hierve al Agua, Mitla ruins, a Mescal distillery and tasting room, had a traditional lunch prepared by a renowned traditional cook followed by a chocolate making class/demonstration, and then a visit to the Arbol de Tule. A busy but not too busy day. All the places we went were very interesting, especially Hierve al Agua, the Mescal distillery and chocolate making. The lunch was delicious and very fun to make chocolate in the traditional manner. Only a late afternoon thunderstorm marred the day allowing only a quick visit to the giant Tule tree. We highly recommend Felix and ConAmigo tours for tours in the Oaxaca valley.

Excellent tour! - Great tour. I got in touch beforehand and was able to discuss some needs for my tour. Tony was our guide and he was ver knowledgeable and kind. He explained everything to us at our pace and answered many questions I had about local life. We did end our tour early but only because it was a long day, otherwise I’m sure the rest of the stops would have been incredible. I think for the price you get a lot especially as a private tour. Honestly, if I go back to Oaxaca I will only book with this tour company. We were picked up in a nice, clean vehicle. No complaints at all. We had an excellent time.

Great Tour Company! - We recently had our second tour with this company and it was perfect. We were in Oaxaca 3 years ago and had 2 day tours with Antonio. This time on this visit there were still A few things we wanted to see and Felix was our guide. Can’t rate either of them high enough. They are super knowledgeable and give the best service possible. Highly recommend!!!

Best way to see what you want to see around Oaxaca, stress-free! - We were only there for a few days but this tour allowed us to see the best of the region. Armando was our guide, he was super friendly, a great driver and very willing to discuss Oaxacan culture and hot topics. We decided to schedule our own custom tour based on our interests and the process of creating our personalized itinerary was very easy over email a couple days prior. Surely the best way to see the Oaxaca region in a day!

Great experience! - Booked last minute but they were able to accommodate us. We selected a private tour so had a flexible itinerary. It was wonderful to get outside the city and experience more of the Oaxacan culture and the gorgeous countryside. Armando was a great guide, knowledgeable and friendly. Car was new and very comfortable.

Culture rich, tradition deep, honesty and genuine ... Oaxaca is amazing - I had an unforgettable day visiting Hierve el Agua, the Zapotec weavers, and the Real Matlatl Mezcal Distillery. Hierve el Agua's stunning natural rock formations and mineral springs offered breathtaking views and a refreshing swim. The visit to the Zapotec weavers was inspiring, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and vibrant designs steeped in tradition. The Real Matlatl Mezcal Distillery tour was perfect, with an in-depth look at the artisanal mezcal-making process and generous tastings of their exceptional mezcal. This excursion was a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and local flavors. Felix was an awesome guide and ensured we got the most out the experience and day. Highly recommended!

Nice way to spend the day! - I think the tour description is a bit lacking because it doesn’t say upfront that you have to select from the various stops and can only do a certain number of stops in a day because of how far some of the destinations are from each other. First found out about this when we were already in Oaxaca and out exploring, and started getting emails about which option we want to go with – definitely wasn’t ideal doing the back and forth while on the go and with sketchy signal strength. Anywho, we settled on the Hierve El Agua full day tour (minus the Mezcal Distillery), and got Felix as our driver and guide (for the stops without a local guide) and he was awesome – great communication and very helpful and considerate. The stops (Hierve El Agua, Mitla, Teotitlan del Valle, Tule Tree) were all great and well worth the drive as well (which again seemed shorter than expected, thanks to well-timed stops and the smooth driving!). We have a nice rug from Teotitlan del Valle to remember the day by too – 100% would recommend!

Best First Class Tour Company in Oaxaca! - I highly recommend Antonio and his company, Conmingo Tours, for any tours and excursions in Oaxaca! I booked two different private tours and was thoroughly impressed. Antonio was very responsive to emails, worked with me to customize the itinerary, and offered fair pricing compared to other tour groups. He also provided excellent local restaurant and bar recommendations. Antonio went out of his way to help me with other items during my trip. Our first trip was an all-day excursion to Hierve el Agua with Felix. Felix was an outstanding guide—knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Oaxaca region, a safe driver, and very patient with our photo requests. The day began with a fantastic breakfast in a village, followed by visits to Hierve el Agua, a mezcal tasting, a local weaving shop, and more. Felix was flexible and accommodating, making adjustments to the day itinerary as needed. The second day was a half-day trip to Monte Albán with Antonio. The half-day format was perfect as we saw the highlights, and it allowed us to explore other activities in the afternoon. Antonio enriched our experience with stops at additional cultural sites on the way back. Overall, Conmingo Tours provided an exceptional experience. Thank you, Antonio and Felix, for two fantastic days in Oaxaca! Best first-class tour group in the region!
