  • 7-23 Amijimachō - After briefly learning about kintsugi and its technique, you will be provided with pieces of a broken ceramic cup or plate so you can get to put them together using the technique with the help of the artist.

You will also enjoy Japanese pastries and tea with cups and plates that were already kintsugi-ed.

You will leave the experience with the ceramics that you repaired. you might have to wait until they’re completely dried.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pieces with lacquer and gold pigments. It serves as a metaphor for embracing one’s flaws and imperfections. Instead of concealing our imperfections, it encourages us to accept and even highlight them. Kintsugi also embodies the spirit of wabi-sabi.

This art form is gaining recognition worldwide. You can now see it featured in many movies and shows. It’s an excellent way to learn about Japanese tradition and our way of life.

Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with Kintsugi. A local Kintsugi artist will explain what it is before guiding you through a hands-on experience.
