Best Experience I had in All of Japan - I spent two amazing weeks in Japan and this class was definitely the highlight of my trip! Yayo is so generous and patient while teaching you her traditional cooking style (with ingredients hand made by her mom). She has a modern and friendly teaching style while imparting age old cooking techniques to tourist like my group of friends, it was the perfect combination of a fun experience and a glimpse into Japanese culture. By the end of the class we were stuffed and Yayo was even ready for that. She had take-home containers and packed up the desserts we had made to take back to the hotel. Best of all she had printed and packaged up the recipes she had taught us with some additional personalized souvenirs to take home. This is not an exaggeration, the very first thing I did when I got home to the USA was make the Dashimaki she taught us and it was delicious!

Yayo is the best! Actually Learned New Cooking Techniques and Left So Full it Hurt! - Our entire group agreed that taking Yayo’s cooking class was one of the top highlights of our time in Japan, which is saying something considering how many amazing things there are to do. Yayo is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and was really good at encouraging and helping people with cooking their food, and she even gave us her own umbrella to use on the walk over since it was raining. Needless to say the food was also all amazingly delicious and Yayo was very informative about explaining the ingredients and techniques being used to make it all. Our group’s personal favorite was the Okinomiyaki, but the taiyaki, takoyaki, miso soup, and dashimaki were all so so good! If you want to spend a quality couple of hours with a true Osaka native I would recommend this tour to anyone in a heartbeat.

The Best Thing We Did On Our Japan Trip!!! - This was the highlight of our trip and a must do while in Osaka!! Yayo is an excellent teacher and cook, she walks you through every step of making your meal. She explains the process for how each of your ingredients are made and the history and culture of Osaka cooking. The three of us all had different levels of cooking experience but none of us struggled with Yayo's instructions. She encourages and helps along the way so it's not stressful at all! Everything is very well paced too. Come hungry and be ready to take some left overs for lunch the following day. A very very generous amount of tasty food. If I had to recommend one thing to do in Japan it would be this class!! It was that good!!! I'm fully converted to Osaka style cuisine :)

Highlight of our holiday - This cooking class was the best we have ever experienced. It should definitely not be skipped while visiting Osaka. Our teacher, Yayo, welcomed us into her home, picked tasty dishes to teach us, had explanations for everything, and was prepared for all eventualities and mishaps. She was a knowledgeable, gracious, and generous host. We learned so much and are already planning to apply our new knowledge at home :) Thank you so much, Yayo, for your kindness, humour, generosity, the recipe sheets, and your great way of teaching!
