Highlights
  • Dotombori Glico Sign - Starting on the the bright and busy Doutonburi area we will learn about Glico man, a Filipino sprinter named Fortunato Catalon who inspired a nation and a company!
  • Dotombori District - Similar to Shibuya (its counterpart in Tokyo) the lights and sounds of Dotounburi often lead you astray to overly-commercialised restaurants with queues of tourists outside. Great, people-focused tour! - An absolutely wonderful tour experience, with a trilingual guide who was from Osaka but had lived in the US and Mexico. Nicky took us to small, owner-operated businesses she knew well, and the food and the experience were outstanding. Only a good local guide could show a big, glitzy neighborhood’s human dimensions.

More than a food tour! - We had an outstanding food tour with Sae in Kyoto, and with Shasta in Osaka! Many thanks to each guide for their food, vendor, and restaurant seletions, their fascinating stories and places we explored together, and their simply awesome company! Each guide accommodated the tastes and dietary restrictions in our family with ease, and we enjoyed everything we tasted, even gaining new favorite foods! We highly recommend Shasta, Sae and Arigato Japan Food Tours for anyone visitng Japan and wants to explore foods there with a trusted guide, who you'll call friend by the end of the touur. :)

Try everything! - We had such a great time and ate really good food! Our guide was fun and flexible to our needs/ wants. She also took us to some places we definitely would have been intimidated to try on our own. Great tour, highly recommend!

Absolutely Delicious - The food tour through “crazy” Dontobori was absolutely delicious. Sebastian skillfully led the small group through the many people, narrow streets, and let us immerse ourselves in the cuisine of Nihon.

Made our Day! - We had this tour in Osaka. Our guide, Shasta, took us around Dotonburi, showed us lots of interesting details and we had delicious food in wonderful little restaurants. We were looked after very individually. Had a lot of fun and felt very comfortable. Time passed much too quickly.

A great tour - This was a great experience, especially as a solo traveller. Arigato Tours were able to accommodate a pescatarian experience, which was appreciated, and our guide Sae was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgable. I learned a lot and ate some great food, wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

Osaka Food Tour - We took a wonderful private tour with Maria, learning about Osaka and the many interesting facts and history of the area. The food spots were very good, eating the Osakan must-try foods of Takoyaki, Kushikatsu, Taiyaki, and one other izakaya for the main dish and a drink. As far as food tours go, I found the food/drinks weren't as generous as others, but the detailed city tour, Maria's knowledge and the personalised recommendations, plus side-stop at a konbini to buy guide-suggested treats made up for it. Maria was great company and made the night out very fun.
