Highlights
  • Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) is a popular tourist destination featuring eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region. It is situated between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako, on the site of a former sixth lake that dried up several hundred years ago. The ponds are fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji, which filters through porous lava layers for over 80 years, resulting in exceptionally clear spring water that is highly valued by locals.
  • Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine - Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, also known as Chureito Pagoda (忠霊塔, Chūreitō), is a five-story pagoda located on a mountainside overlooking Fujiyoshida City with Mount Fuji in the distance. The pagoda is part of the Arakura Sengen Shrine and was built in 1963 as a peace memorial, accessible by nearly 400 steps from the shrine’s main buildings. The location offers stunning views of Mount Fuji alongside the pagoda and is particularly popular among photographers for capturing iconic images of Japan.
  • Kawaguchiko Station Bldg. - Known as the most beautiful Lawson Store in the world, it offers an astonishing view of Mt. Fuji with Kawaguchiko Station in the background.
  • Lake Kawaguchiko - The most visited of the Fuji Five Lakes, Lake Kawaguchiko is the main gateway to this renowned lake region. It is the second largest in surface area and the second shallowest, with a depth of only 14.6 meters. Its surface elevation of approximately 830 meters results in cool summers and icy winters. The lake attracts many visitors, especially during the cherry blossom season in spring and the vibrant fall foliage in autumn.
  • Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway - Ropeway charges are not included in the package. This cable car ascends 220 meters to an observation point, offering fantastic views of the lake as you go up. The Mount Fuji Panoramic Ropeway climbs 400 meters from the eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko to an observation deck near the peak of Mount Tenjo. From the deck, which is over 1000 meters above sea level, you can enjoy panoramic views of the lake and Mount Fuji.
  • Oishi Park - Located on the north shore of Kawaguchiko, Oishi Park offers a superb view of both the lake and Mount Fuji. Various flowers bloom along the lakeside promenade according to the season. On sunny days, many photographers come early in the morning to capture images of Mount Fuji, the lake, and the flowers. On the west side of Oishi Park, the “Flowers Road” features colorful blooms throughout the season. At the end of the Flowers Road, Kochia (summer cypress) covers the area from summer to autumn, making it a popular photo spot.
  • Fuji Honchodori - Also known as “Honcho Street,” this road runs through the center of Fujiyoshida and connects the city to Mount Fuji.
  • Gotemba Premium Outlets - This destination is optional for those who want to shop and can skip a few other places. This outdoor shopping center offers views of Mount Fuji and features over 200 shops. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of restaurants and food stores, making it a perfect spot for shopping and dining.
  • Yamanakako Lake Side Bowl - Lake Yamanakako is the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes and has the third-highest elevation of any lake in Japan. It is the closest of the five to Mount Fuji and offers spectacular views of the iconic peak.
  • Saiko Lake - Lake Saiko (西湖) is smaller and less developed than neighboring Lake Kawaguchiko. The views of Mount Fuji from Lake Saiko’s shores are obstructed by other mountains.
  • Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba - Also known as “Healing Village,” this community consists of 22 traditional thatched-roof houses that depict the old-time scenery of the Showa Period.

Awesome Private Fuji Experience! - This tour from start to finish was an incredible experience. Our driver Bob communicated with us the day before our scheduled tour and arrived on time in the morning. He was polite, punctual, professional, and spoke perfect English, offering many suggestions and tips for the best Fuji experience. Bob worked with us throughout the day to ensure we could get the best glimpses of Fuji while avoiding excessive crowds and he was more than happy to cater to our personal needs during the tour. Bob provided a personable experience and shared his knowledge and insights on Japanese travel and culture which was greatly appreciated. As for the tour itself, the value for money is unbeatable. We are so glad we booked a private tour and were thankfully blessed with a perfect sunny day after a week of non-stop rain. 10/10 would recommend.

The BEST way to see Mt. Fuji and the surrounding areas from Tokyo! - It was an excellent trip and we were able to get great pictures of Mount Fuji! It looked like it might rain in the afternoon, so we coordinated to start the tour at 06:00 (this is not one of the offered times, but they accommodated us just the same). Kibo showed up at our hotel, right on time, and we were off. We'd reserved a 5 passenger car but were pleasantly surprised with a very clean and comfortable minivan and had a lot of room. Due to the early departure, we made it to the pagoda in just an hour and a half. I have to mention this was a Saturday, and we were told that there is typically a lot of traffic on Saturdays, and the trip out can sometimes take as long as 2.5 hours. It was a cloudy morning, and we waited by the pagoda for about 45 minutes to see if the clouds would burn off. Perhaps leaving early wasn't a such a great idea, as from that point, we only saw just a little bit of Mt. Fuji. Kibo was not to be defeated, and he drove us to all of the spots he knew to try and get a good vantage point We toured some gardens by a lake, and then went to another set of gardens, and that is where we could finally see all of Mt. Fuji. Satisfied and happy with our photos, we moved on to tour a traditional village that had many handicrafts, and Oshina Hakkai, which was another very interesting village with several ponds of water that comes from Mt. Fuji. It was a great day, Kibo spoke excellent and easy to understand English, and we were very satisfied with the quality of the tour. We did spend a little more than we would have on a bus tour, but with limited time and being demanding customers, this was definitely the best option for us, as we were allowed to modify and change the itinerary on a whim, didn't have a fixed schedule, and never had to wait on a crowd. If you have more than three people in your tour, this will actually end up being a less expensive option than a bus tour and much more flexible. I am also obliged to mention that if you are staying in a hotel outside of Tokyo (Kawaski, Kanagawa, etc.) they will ask for a surcharge for the pickup/drop off. Please be aware of this, as I had somehow missed it. With the surcharge, I still find the tour to be a deal because we just didn't have time to be messing around with and learning train schedules. Highly recommended! Glocal Japan really pulled out all the stops to ensure we enjoyed our tour!
