Fantastic experience for the entire family. - Can’t recommend this tour enough. Perfect amount of time when travelling with 2 small children. Everything and more we could have hoped for from our experience and money well spent. The tour was really informative, the children were captivated for the entire time, the guides were great and the park as a whole is a fantastic cause.

Such a great afternoon with the elephants - The elephants are their keepers are amazing. Feeding the elephant was such a special experience. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff were wonderful and so helpful. Unfortunately my son got sick at the end of the tour, the staff couldn’t do more to help him - giving him water, cold flannels and helping clean himself up. Thank you for your kindness and care.

Great experience with these beautiful mammals - Booked this trip through our hotel excursion rep, the price included being picked up from our hotel with only one other couple from a neighboring resort and visiting the sanctuary in the morning before heading to a farm for lunch in the afternoon followed by a tour explaining how local produce was made. We had researched at length Elephant experiences before coming to Thailand as we were adamant that we wanted to visit an ethical one if possible which would not include bathing with them or riding on them but to allow them to be in as close to their natural habitat as possible with the elephants interest at heart not necessarily the tourist . The Phuket Elephant Sanctuary did exactly what it said on the tin, taking in old, disabled and rescued elephants and allowing them to live out their best days. We would highly recommend this place if a sanctuary is what you’re looking for, the guide that we had who took us another 2 couples around was really knowledgeable and made the whole experience better knowing how they care for these old and sometimes disabled elephants . We didn’t feel rushed at any point on the tour. Our experience also included welcome drinks and snacks, a 20 minute introduction video about how the sanctuary was created, the tour itself self walking on the platforms above the 12 elephants which lasted around one hour, an opportunity to feed two of the elephants from a respectful and safe distance for both the elephants and visitors and finally a mocktail with some fries and banana samosas before having chance to visit their gift shop. The whole place is clean, tidy and really well run. They also have a vet hospital being constructed to assist with the sick elephants careThroughly recommend this place for anyone looking to see elephants ethnically cared for in Thailand .

Great Sanctuary - Prompt pick up from Hotel and approx 1 hour drive to check in. Taken to the actual Sanctuary in a truck, lots of fun even though bumpy and wet. Greeted and refreshments available before a short informative session how they rescue elephants. Divided into small groups and walked along the canopy walk with our guide. Saw lots of their Elephants and guide informed us of their age, disability if any and where they were rescued from. Opportunity to then feed 2 Elephants with fruit and then more cool drinks and snacks before drive back to Kata. Very ethical and caring place. My 2 teen grandsons and I thoroughly enjoyed

One to Remember! - We opted for the half day visit and were lifted at our hotel. A very smooth and exceptionally well organised visit followed. Every detail was thought of for visitors including water, snacks , cold clothes and a delicious vegetarian Thai lunch. Seeing the elephants close up and hearing their stories was informative and infuriating that many of these wonderful creatures are still being so badly treated beyond the boundaries of the sanctuary. For example, at the entrance to our hotel, along with several others, two elephants are paraded nightly !!!! Not good! Highly recommend thur visit and is one that will stay in the memory long after the holiday is over! I wish them continued support and success.

Highly educational sanctuary with a proper mission to facilitate the retirement of old-age and/or disabled elephants - I was engaged with the tour from the start of it, I found the introduction video very informative and it set a lot of context for the elephant sanctuary. On the canopy walk, we saw a whole bunch of unchained and unconfined elephants, just walking around with their resident mahout guides who give vocal commands to guide the elephants safely around the sanctuary. The tour guide explained the different qualities of each elephant, how they had been rescued as well as more details like their relationships with the other elephants and their age. The elephants that are rescued are generally elderly and disabled with the aim to retire them comfortably. The tour guide answered all the questions asked by everyone on the tour comprehensively and also explained why their sanctuary does not engage in certain practices such as showering with the elephants. While elephants enjoy showering, if they shower excessively this can damage their nails and result in infections. The tour gave me really good insights into what domesticated Asian elephants often face in terms of early-age training especially against the context of tourism in Phuket and Thailand. I think their mission is fantastic. We did get to feed an elephant at the end which was really cool and the tour begun and also ended on some nice snacks. Overall, I highly recommend this tour, it is very fascinating and watching the elephants enjoy the sanctuary unconfined was very heartwarming.

Phenomenal Experience! - This 90 minute canopy walk tour was fantastic! Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was evident that all of the staff love and care for the elephants. We learned about the care of the elephants, learned where each elephant was rescued from, fed the elephants, and got to briefly walk among them in the sanctuary. We utilized the transportation for to/from our resort and the process was painless. Highly recommend this experience!
