Highlights
  • Zona Arqueologica de Palenque - After pickup from your hotel in Palenque city, you will travel to the archaeological site of Palenque. Located in the middle of lush vegetation, the UNESCO World Heritage site served as one of the most important ceremonial centers of the Maya culture during the Classic period. Almost 200 years before the pre-Columbian ruins were discovered in the 18th century, the nearby city was named by the Spanish — a literal translation of the Ch’ol word otulún, which means fenced or fortified place. On arrival, follow your guide and listen to informative commentary. You’ll visit the Temple of the Inscriptions, the site’s largest pyramid where the tomb of the great Maya ruler Pakal was found. See the royal palace and the Temple of the Foliated Cross. If there is enough time, you’ll also explore cultural exhibits at the museum (closed on Monday). (Approximate duration from 2 to 3 hours) - Cascada de Roberto Barrios - Immerse yourself in the unspoiled nature and unparalleled beauty of the Roberto Barrios Waterfall, a hidden treasure in the heart of Chiapas, surrounded by a lush tropical jungle, with an impressive series of waterfalls that offers a unique and authentic experience for lovers of adventure and tranquility. With its bright turquoise waters, you will be surprised by their clarity and beauty. Don’t forget your swimsuit as its natural, stepped pools invite you to swim, jump off rocks and slide down natural slides formed by the river’s current. Each level offers a new perspective and adventure.

Cool staff - Very cool experience. The boat is open bar, however if you cannot swim they won't allow you to snorkel which sucks. Because usually everywhere else I go they at least allow you to snorkel with the life vest. The staff speaks both English and Spanish.

Be careful of all the "registered guides" that are at the entrance waiting to negotiate the cost of guidance. - Before entering the pyramids go to the museum that is located on the right side of the entrance (check that opens the day you are planning to go) that will help you to understand the layout of the pyramids. When you go out, Don't get overwhelmed by all the "registered guides" at the entrance of the pyramids. Take your time to chose a good one for a reasonable price. The cost for only the pyramids can go from 30 to 200 dollars. If you take the tour for both the pyramids and the jungle, the price goes from 60 to 400 dollars. Also it depends how many people you are and the language. If you ask at the entrance about a good guide, they will tell you that all of them are good. So take your time.
