Highlights

Sunken city, Little Theatre of Epidaurus.

Probably the best outing of our group, due to its unique combination of history, culture, gastronomy, folklore, fun and entertainment.

Our incredible experience begins at Yialasi Beach, located a short stroll from the center of Epidaurus. We will paddle westward to the famous Sunken City, also known as Argolida’s Lost Atlantis, with a great view of the imposing Volcano of Methana.
The city was built 500 AC. You can see the remains of it and in some places even the ancient breakwater is still preserved. Walls, foundations of buildings, amphorae of huge dimensions and paved sections are sunken, meters below sea level, and only few meters away from shore. Being only two meters in depth, makes it a unique location for underwater site-seeing, snorkeling and underwater pictures.
Once we reach the seabed, we will give you masks to swim among the ancient ruins, take photos, observe the unique colorful fish and experience for yourselves the aura and unique healing energy of Epidaurus (Epidaurus: the place where the aura works).

When we’ll manage to convince you to move on, our next destination is the Little Theatre of Epidaurus. The Little Theatre of Epidaurus is placed in an area called Nisi, near the port of Palea Epidaurus. It used to be the theatre of the ancient city-state and apart from drama performances, it also hosted religious and political celebrations. This theatre was discovered in the early 1970s, under a field of olive trees and its restoration process continues till today.
Its construction started in the 4th century B.C. and was originally built to cover the needs of this small city-state, so its size was not big. It had 9 tiers and 18 rows of seats and could host about 2,000 spectators. Some seats have inscriptions which show that the theatre was dedicated to god Dionysus and was built in sections.
This theatre was totally reformed in the Roman times: the orchestra became semi-circular and the seats were reordered. However, it is believed that the small theatre of Epidaurus was in function for only seven centuries since its construction, because the historian Pausanias, who visited the area in the middle of the 2nd century BC, didn’t mention anything about it.
After several excavations and much restoration work performed over the last decades, the Epidaurus Little Theatre hosts today the annual Greek Festival, celebrated in summer with music, dance and theatre performances. There are seats for 800 spectators and work is done to restore more of them. The performances are mostly held in modern or ancient Greek.

At the end of our journey, we will continue through gastronomy, by visiting “Athina EcoFarm”. There, we will relax, rest and enjoy an amazing meal made of local organic products, all cultivated in the area according to the ancient way.

Having learned about ancient Greek heritage in cooking, cultivating and harvesting, we will return to our starting point, after an unforgettable journey among history, taste and culture.

Fantastic Day! Do not miss! - We had the complete pleasure to spend the half-day with George and his team kayaking to the sunken city. George was an incredible guide; knowledgable, entertaining and his dog Lucy stole the show! George provided us with an amazing lunch on the beach after snorkelling, prepared by his mother. The whole day was a complete joy. Make sure to include George in your trip to the Peloponnese, You will not regret the time you spend!

An excellent adventure! - My friend and I went to Epidaurus to join a sea kayaking tour over the sunken city. We were met by our host, Ιωάννης, he was very friendly and explained in good English about the equipment and the itinerary of the trip. The kayaking was fairly easy and I would say most reasonably fit people could manage without any problems. My friend and I are both 62 and we had no problem. Ιωάννης told us lots of interesting things about the area including things about the plants and animals. The amphitheater was very impressive. The snorkelling was amazing, the sunken city was very special to see so clearly under the water. We were lucky enough to swim with a sea turtle too. We were provided with a delicious lunch made by the mum of the owner (Γεώργιος). The meal was a traditional Greek dish called Gemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes). The whole adventure was all very safe our trip lasted about four and a half hours. It was very interesting and enjoyable and I would thoroughly recommend it

Great experience and highly recommended - George and his team (including Lucy the sea Chihuahua) did an amazing job. We brought our kids (5 and 7) along and we were treated to a great experience. Over the top enthusiasm and attention to detail. The kids asked if we could do the tour again the next day.

A must do trip - Simply outstanding for beginners like us (in our mid 60’s) to young people and even families. The pro’s gave us 1-2-1 guidance and even though we weee always ‘bring up the rear’ we never felt any pressure to keep up. As far as I could see all the novices had a pro with them at all times. Safety measures were excellent along with some first aid my husband needed which was not related to the trip. We kayaked in a double to the far aide of the bay, got out and had a quick swim before a short walk to the Little Epidavros Ampitheatre only discovered in 1970, then back to the sea to paddle half way back to a small unorganised beach where snorkelled directly from the beach over the remains of a sunken city with snorkels provided if you didn’t have your own. Then we had a delicious lunch made by the leaders mum on the beach. Then a paddle back across the mirror like bay. Fantastic crew and a wonderful relaxed experience. Thank you all

An amazing experience with a wonderful host - This trip was amazing! Describing it as a sea kayaking experience doesn’t really do it justice as just as much time is spent snorkelling, eating and sightseeing as kayaking but every moment was great. The host could not have been kinder or more attentive and his Mum’s home-cooked lunch was so delicious- and great for a veggie family who sometimes struggled in Greece. Both adults, my 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter all had a fantastic time. The highlight for my daughter was getting to paddle with the hosts very friendly little dog!

Unique experience not to be missed - This was lovely. Snorkeling over a sunken city is a hard to beat. The guide was very personable & gave wonderful history & local recommendations. It’s very easy and short kayaking, although the kayaks themselves were a little difficult to maneuver. I highly recommend
